HOUSTON -- At the moment, Rick Perry's camp confirms the governor still plans to participate in Wednesday night's GOP debate in California.

The governor's campaign just released his schedule showing two events in California after the debate. It appears he will leave the wildfires to appear Wednesday night in California and will continue on with planned fundraisers Thursday and Friday. It appears his brief break from campaigning hasn't hurt.

Are you calling me Perry hater?

I do not see where asking how much fire he was putting out makes me a Perry hater, when I only meant that he isn’t needed in Texas to put out fire.

Damn some people in here jump to the damndest conclusions.

Talk to paleo Bob number 42 if you are looking for a Perry hater.

Exactly. And she’s a private citizen that shouldn’t be going home! That’s how low some of them reach.

In this case, better done here in person, I think. He got cheered by the people in one fire interview I saw on TV. Being run out of my own home by one of the fires, I can appreciate what he did to show appreciation for the firefighters in person. They fought our fire like mad and stopped the fire just short of an acquaintance's wooden fence.

This will be good for Palin...allows her to see her newest competitor in action as she perfects her strategy.

It's a tough call, but I would have to say it would be better for him to stay in Texas. This is serious stuff going on here with new fires popping up every day, reports of arson, and continued concerns about water supply.

Politically, if any of the other candidates wanted to bash him for not coming to their silly debate, they would look petty, as it would show that their political jobs are pretty inconsequential when compared to Perry's responsibilities.

On the other hand it could show his ability to juggle multiple commitments. But I will say that this is a much more serious situation than one primary debate. This whole friggin state is standing on the threshold of hell and nature's fury.

I'm sure those who were slamming him for possibly skipping the debates will show up here for an "attaboy".....

They're too busy maligning Ann Coulter and urging her to consume more cheeseburgers. (So she can look like them??)

I’m sure that in many ways, this is a really tough call. For Perry, his advisors, and for those who are supporting his campaign. Dems know we have critized others for leaving or being away in times of crisis. No matter which way Perry plays it there are those who will beat him up about what he decides. It is just too darn hard to be a politician and please all the people all the time. I wish him luck.

To be fair I’ve ben slamming Ann Coulter ever since she tried to destroy Chief Justice Roberts in his nomination proceedings with Souter’s record. She made a great case against Souter...but Roberts wasn’t Souter. I took the opportunity to do so again today however....the attacks in that thread are ridiculous. No need to slam Christie’s weight in the manner they are. And while I’ve never seen why some Freepers think Ann is beautiful is there a need to attack her on that level. And no they aren’t winning Sarah voters.

Palin seems to bring the more extreme FReepers to her cause on FR.

I haven’t quite figured it out, but I believe it has something to do with a bizarro Hope and Change message.

Perhaps the extreme ones that are always on the defensive on her behalf and even bash other Palin supporters that offer constructive criticism actually have less confidence in her than supporters like myself have in her.

They like her very much and what she stands for (just as I do) but they also see incompetence in her (perhaps because she's woman) so they feel the need to coddle her and protect her from nay sayers and critics.

Yup, they feel she's incompetent while I have all the faith in the world that she would do well as President if only she could get there.

So, when I say she's making a mistake by waiting too long... I'm marked a anti-Palin.

The truth is, they feel she's helpless and incompetent while I feel she's more than strong enough to accept constructive criticism.
