Lots of good facts in the article but not too well organized and it doesn't tell us what the politicians are supposed to do except "avoid default". They won't cut spending and taxes won't even cover the interest payments in a high interest rate environment. The inevitable conclusion is that they will take the easy way out and inflate, then redefine and revalue the currency. They will start with a modest two old dollars for one new dollar hoping to avoid the pitchforks. But that will not be enough and it will also open the door to hyperinflation as the people realize that and unload the new dollars.
Besides precious metals, I recommend a supply of long-lasting foods, repair kits, supplies.
