Barbara Boxer: I hope greens sue President Obama

Senate Environment and Public Works Chairwoman Barbara Boxer said she hopes green groups sue President Barack Obama over his decision to punt a regulation curbing smog-creating emissions until at least 2013.
Boxer — whose relatively mild reaction to Obama’s surprise announcement Friday was in contrast to heated rebukes by environmental groups — said she will stand by those groups in any litigation to force the administration to issue a final ozone rule that goes beyond what was enacted by President George W. Bush.
Environmental groups charged that Obama made a political calculus by punting on a rule that was a particular target of critics who charge his regulatory agenda has hurt the economy and jobs.
Boxer didn’t quite go there. “I’m not making any charge. I’m just saying I disagree, strongly, with their decision,” she told reporters Tuesday. She added, “And I hope they’ll be sued in court and I hope the court can stand by the Clean Air Act.”
Noting that every president regardless of political party has been sued by environmental groups, Boxer said, “And I’m on the side of the environmentalists. If you factor in the health benefits you save so many lives and you prevent so many hospital admissions that it’s a big plus for the economy.”
Boxer issued a statement Friday saying she was “disappointed” in the decision but also “heartened” by Obama’s pledge in his announcement to safeguard the EPA and more specifically the Clean Air Act.

Boxer needs to provide details of the number of people currently being admitted to hospitals because of our present lack of regulation that would be implemented if the lawsuit were successful.

How do you sue over something that has not been done?
I hope business groups sue the feds over imposing regulations without the benefit of passing them in congress as laws.
Further, she asks that the taxpayers be sued. Which is outrageous! She wants me and you to not only pay for the litigation in the event the government loses she wants all of us to pay for damages, court costs, attorneys fees and whatever else.
The disrespect for money from politicians is sickening. I am tired of it. Take any of the candidates for President, for example. Those of them that are already holding elected office are thieves as far as I am concerned. Whether it be Ron Paul or Rick Perry or any of the other candidates currently in an elected office. They have jobs which they are not doing. If my employee here in Texas, Rick Perry, wants to go run around somewhere else for over a year not doing his job I want him to RESIGN first! Or at least let's dock his pay and benefits and make him pay for any state employees like the Texas DPS who are with him. He is stealing from me. Harsh? Not in my view. These politicians needs to be put under foot by the people paying the bills!
When you are fat, sassy and rich you can forget about the details and spend money like it does not matter. But when you are broke and deeply in debt every penny counts! The whole mindset of how politicians act and spend money has to change and change dramatically!
