I’ve grown tired of people arguing that we need to elect moderates to stop Democrats. If it were merely a matter of stopping the slide then I would agree with them. However, we need to fix things and get rid of things government does. We don’t need not-Democrats. We need conservatives. I’d rather have 218 Conservatives in the House than 300 Republicans.

For many moderates he’s correct - it’s not a substantive belief. That being said... I do know of a few who have formed a belief system that extremes of any form are to be avoided. They aim to be centered in all things. It’s little odd and zen.
Finally someone gets it. When they say moderate; we are in trouble.
Moderation, on a personal level, is a virtue. It leads to good health. The ancient Greeks knew this as it was stated as the Golden Mean. Immoderate behavior can lead to all kinds of disasters and as a lifestyle was seen as a personal failing or character flaw. But I doubt this is what Rush is talking about.
