And he wrote that speech himself.

Nowadays all the speeches are written by writers, and I don’t think we can truly have a great orator president anymore, in the way the old presidents used to speak.

Sounds like Mr. Ford has a serious case of rectal poisoning.

“Call me, Harold...”

Even George VI would say, “Spit it out, man!”

Barack Obama and Bill Clinton remind me of every Lead Singer I ever played in a band with and boy were they full of bleep. Like Mel Brooks explaining to Bea Arthur what a “Stand Up Philosopher” does.

“Oh, a Bull$hit artist!”

Of the many preposterous beliefs that Obama seems to provoke in the minds of his supporters, none grates more upon the ground of observable reality than the idea of his oratorical brilliance.

Any person of even modest intellect who endeavors to listen objectively to Barack Obama hold forth (on any subject) will make note of: his stilted and halting delivery, his frequent reliance on verbal crutches ("let me be clear"), his use of logical fallacy e.g. - (the "straw man" or the argument from authority) in place of reasoning, and a pervasive tone of condescension throughout, flowing perhaps from an inordinately frequent use of the first person tense.

It is my experience that those who still speak of his "brilliance" do so out of a fierce political loyalty, by which their suspension of disbelief cloaks any honest assessment or objective analysis.

I was riding an elevator with Ford, Sr. once and was standing next to him. I looked at him and I looked at myself. I was actually darker than Sr.. As a white guy, I found that interesting. It was an experiment born of curiosity. If I'm darker than Sr., you just know that Jr. would look like a white sheet in comparison. This is NOT a racist post. It is a statement of fact.

BTW, I was not impressed with either of them. Politicians bore me.

I will blame Ford’s early education in the Memphis school system for part of his ignorance.

What a great scene that was at the unemployment office: "Have you bullsh*tted today? Have you tried to bullsh*t today?"

Forget about being a racist. I will never forget Harold Sr. calling his white constituents “Blue Eyed Devils”.

LOL

At least he was somewhat curable. Obama's an intellectual dope. There's no cure for that kind of hubris.

telling White House press secretary Jay Carney that President Obama is "the greatest orator that the office has ever known."

Was it "love," "romance" and a "thrill up his leg?"

One could have made that argument before the last presidential election though it would require a certain amount of ideological filtration. Not now. He did a good job with his oratelepromptory until he was actually in office then it all kind of petered out. Comparing him to others like Lincoln or Washington or TR or even FDR is just silly. Those fellows never lost their skills and arguably improved them. What has the kenyan got to put against the Gettysburg Address or to Washington’s Farewell Address or to TR’s attacks on the “Trusts?” or FDR’s “Nothing to fear but Fear itself?”
