Video: Newt Gingrich Goes After Debate Moderator John Harris for Biased Questioning
NewsBusters ^

Posted on 09/08/2011 9:01:59 AM PDT by RatherBiased.com

For reasons that are still inexplicable, the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Library agreed to partner up with NBC News, parent organization of the uber-left-wing network MSNBC to televise tonight's Republican presidential debate. While NBC representative Brian Williams had more than his share of sneering biased questions, it was Williams's co-moderator, Politico editor John F. Harris who laid on the snark in his attempts to bait and attack the candidates.

Such unbalanced questioning is par-for-the-course for Republicans competing at the national level. More often than not, they take it in stride. Tonight, though, Newt Gingrich was having none of it as he went full-on after Harris's attempts to insert Gingrich into a non-existent debate about an individual mandate to purchase insurance at the national level that Republicans simply are not having. Video and transcript follow.

I do give Gingrich two thumbs up for this smackdown. It should be standard for Republican candidates to repudiate the nonsense questions they get from the Democrat butt boys in the media.

Unless the debate was moderated by Hannity or someone like that, then any Repub who shows up for a debate is a jerk. What the hell’s the matter with them to go to these slanted debates.

Actually, I don’t see why he wouldn’t be a good President. He is very smart and knows more history than any book. I’m sure the obligatory pics of him and San Fran Nan will show up, but if anybody here on FR thinks they can debate him, speak up, and do it.

And Mr Newt fulfills the role a lot of Freepers have advocated, that of an articulate pit bull guarding the fence on the conservative encampment. Loud and with a bite you can’t ignore but still just a guard dog.

Kudos to Newt for actually CALLING THEM OUT!!!!!

I think Newt knows that he won’t get any more traction by “playing nice” but he knows he needs to stand out if he is ever goionhjg to have any chance of topping Romney or Perry.

I think Newt may have secured a position as Press Securtary in a future Republican Administration.

Couldn’t find the clip associated with this article. But I did find Joe Scarbouroughs new song.

Couldn’t make it all the way through. I just had breakfast. I’m only human. My stomach can only take so much.

Decent moderators for the actual debate would really be nice.

I almost never watch MSNBC, and I wasn't really "surprised" but I was amazed that after the debate, the panel of "experts" on MSNC consisted of (IIRC) Eugene Robinson, Lawrence O'Donnell, Chris Matthews, and Ed Schulz.

These people simply cannot grasp the Republican viewpoint on anything. It all goes over their pointy little heads -- and they are supposed to tell me who "won"?

Total joke. The media is ruled by the Left.

Total schtick. And nonsense to boot. You shouldn’t argue with one another-—at a debate?? Nice gimmick. Seems to work on a lot of people.

Chief of staff is his ideal job. No one would get out of line with the possible exception of “Little Newt.”

Even though Newt has little chance to become the GOP candidate, he will be kept as a contender just to tell the media when they need to stuff it.

Newt is kinda like Rush in the way they handle the leftwing media.

Thumbs up to Gingrich for this. He probably knows that he isn’t going to win but that was a real team play.

Gingrich’s problem is like that of Clinton; he has no core beliefs and the only thing he cares about is himself.

Accordingly he has no problem endorsing bad candidates that might win over good candidates who might lose (see NY 26 (?)) or positions that make him look good to Dems (see global warming, etc).

He is a smart version of the Arnold. Even if he is elected, he does not represent the interests of conservatives well.

Gingrich is going nowhere so his actions do serve the public good of pointing out echoing the problem of media bias.

So those at the debate shouldn’t have a difference of opinion?

....this is earned!
the "Old" Strategist reared his head.
All these ZERO "Bootlickers" need a hard knockdown!

paraphrased from Reagan's 1980 Campaign:
When your neighbor loses his job, its' a recession.
When you lose your job, its' a depression.
When Jimmah Barrack Hussien "Malaise" Carter Obama
lose his...its' the beginning of the recovery!"

“Are you better off than you were four years ago?”
REPEAT OFTEN AS NECESSARY!
