That was Jose Diaz-Balart-(Cuban), brother of Lincoln and Mario Diaz-Balart, congressmen (& former congressman) from south Florida.

We really should be systematically deporting the lot of them.

Someone mentioned that illegals should be forever barred from attaining American citizenship and therefore the franchise. These people should not be voting regardless what the zer0 in the white hut says.

And the whole anchor baby thing is unconstitutional. Parents cannot confer American citizenship on their children through an illegal act. Foreign nationals in the diplomatic corps have children here all the time, but their children are citizens of their own countries, their having been born on American soil notwithstanding.

Ruh roh. Sorry for the rant. I have strong opinions about this issue. The crotch-grabbing, bird-flipping, ugly mexican thug who is standing on the burning American flag in that one picture really torques me off.

“Not enough people on welfare in Texas. California has far, far more.”

Yep. With 12% of the nation’s population, California has 30% on the national welfare caseload.

We lead the nation in other areas, like in rewarding bad choices and irresponsible behavior.

That’s why I say handing CA to Mexico would be a poison pill. Let Mexico either pay for them or deal with the inevitable riots when they don’t. :P

We should annex Mexico.

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - A Carson City man who ushered a woman and child out the back door of an IHOP restaurant during a bloody rampage at the pancake house says he’s not a hero.

But the husband and father of those two survivors thanked him later for his quick thinking during the Tuesday shooting that ended with five people dead, including the gunman, and seven wounded.

“What the heck was going on? You just, you didn’t know. But you didn’t have time to process all that information,” said Kevin Carrick, a 52-year-old father of eight and former Air Force paramedic. “All you had to do was try and see if you could do something that could make a difference. My training and my Air Force career 30 years ago probably kicked in.”

Carrick said the gunman seemed intent on killing as many people as possible.

Among the four people killed by the gunman in the still-unexplained shooting were an Iraq War veteran who loved military history, a Navy crewman who had served in Afghanistan and a devoted grandmother who crocheted blankets for every pregnant woman in her life.

Sencion’s family members declined to speak with reporters. The doors were locked Wednesday at the family’s Mi Pueblo market in South Lake Tahoe where he worked.

Sencion, who did not have a military record, had at least one previous encounter with the law. He was taken into protective health custody by South Lake Tahoe police in April 2000. He fought with officers during the incident but was not charged.

No court order was involved, said Lt. David Stevenson. He declined to release any other details because the Carson City shooting investigation remains active.

Sencion struck each of the Guard members in the restaurant in what witnesses described as a seemingly intentional attack.

He then exited the restaurant and fired shots toward the barbecue restaurant, shattering the windows. He also fired toward an H&R Block and a casino across the street.

Servicemen flocked to a Reno hospital after the shooting, nervously waiting for word on those killed and hurt.

“It’s hard to believe something like this would happen to really good people,” said Spc. Lee Amato, 33, a Nevada Army National Guard member. “It’s like a hole, something taken away. It’s mind-boggling and hard to comprehend.”

I have read one study that says maybe one-fourth of the Mexican immigrants assimilate and about one-fourth remain as Mexican as anyone In Mexico City. In between are lots of people who are neither fish nor fowl. They are people of indeterminate culture and therefore lacking in many of the virtues of either race.

Also - that was something like 50 years ago. I’m in my mid 30s and grew up in LA. It hasn’t fit that description in my lifespan, and if documentary films are to be believed, it hasn’t fit that description since about 1960.

I'm in my 60s. About 1972 would be accurate than 1960.

Yeah...who needs a state that has one of the top ten economies in the world?

If the Mexicans had it, they'd be mining and drilling for all they were worth. No three feathered tree frog or whatever would slow them down, either.

I'm not saying that would be a good thing, but the State wouldn't be broke.
