Protesters storm EGT grain terminal in Washington state (local ILWU chapter Gone Wild!)

CHICAGO (Reuters) - More than 500 protesting port workers stormed the EGT grain terminal at the Port of Longview, Washington, on Thursday and damaged railcars and other property, Longview Police Chief Jim Duscha said.

The incident came a day after several of Longshoremen were arrested after blocking a train from arriving at the newly constructed facility owned by EGT, LLC, which is a joint venture of Bunge Ltd, ITOCHU International Inc and STX Pan Ocean Inc.

Early on Thursday, the protesters stormed the EGT facility, smashed guard shack windows, pushed a security vehicle into a ditch, cut brake lines on several rail cars and dumped grain from some cars onto the ground, Duscha said.

...

The union said it had an agreement with the Port of Longview that required the hiring of workers from the local ILWU chapter to man the facility. EGT planned to hire workers from a different union.

"We fully support prosecution of this criminal behavior to the fullest extent under the law," EGT CEO Larry Clarke said. "Issues between EGT, the Port, and the ILWU should be resolved peacefully in a court of law."

ILWU spokesman Roy San Filippo said it was a "wildcat action" that was not sanctioned by the union.

The president of the union said “this is only the beginning”. Apparently what caused it was a photo circulated on the Net of the union president in police custody.

This looks like it may get nasty.

A band I was in years ago had a song titled, “Sheet Rockers vs. Aluminum Siders,” about a fight our singer saw at work on a construction site. I was reminded of it earlier today, when members of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) stormed the Port of Longview, Washington, where they held security guards hostage, blocked a train, and destroyed property, damaging railroad cars and dumping grain. They were protesting the hiring at a grain terminal by the employer, EGT, of a contractor employing workers belonging to a different union, the Operating Engineers. Such union turf battles are...

VIOLENCE:
ORGANIZED LABOR’S
UNIQUE PRIVILEGE

Sixty years after the rise of organized labor’s political machine during the New Deal, union officials remain the only class of citizens allowed, under federal law, to commit violence against their fellow citizens.

Under the U.S. Supreme Court’s infamous Enmons decision, union officials may destroy property, assault employees, and even murder them, and escape prosecution under federal extortion laws, so long as such violence is undertaken to secure what the Supreme Court called “legitimate” objectives, such as wage increases.

Our investigation of labor violence has revealed thousands of incidents of vandalism, arson, assaults, threats and murder perpetrated by union officials and their agents compiled from newspaper reports over the past two decades. As discovered from an in-depth investigation of the New York Daily News strike of 1990, such violence is often planned by union officials who seek out an employer’s vulnerable points, and move on to other points when they fail to exact enough punishment.

The scope of this crisis is underscored by the fact that while the Institute has compiled about 500 reports of union violence since 1975 in New York state, the New York City Police Department recorded more than 500 violent incidents in the 1990 Daily News strike alone.

Plainly this wouldn’t have happened had there been a real American in the Executive leadership of this Nation. A person who believes in this country, the Constitution, the people.

The union thugs would never have dreamed of such performance with such a leader in the WH, but with Obama, and his radical Marxist sycophants flopping about sucking up the treasure of our history they feel they can damned well do whatever they please.

Obama, and company are mentoring criminals, and crime is on the rise.

You surround a group of them and you beat the crap out of them. One time, 5 minutes, and there will never be a problem again.

The unions were afraid of the union busters. They are bullies and the minute someone stands up to them, they back down like the petulant children they are.
