One thing I find fascinating as governor is the disconnect between those in and around the capitol and real New Mexicans. The issue of giving driver's licenses to illegal immigrants is perhaps the best example. They say it's controversial, but New Mexicans are remarkably united - across ethnic, party, and religious lines. Critics can attack my heritage, accuse me of being a "bad Catholic" for my position, but I will keep my word to you and continue the fight to repeal this dangerous law.

There seems to be a an attempt at a redefining of the word “illegal” going on.
Or maybe it’s the word “immoral” they are going after.
Either way, I don’t like it.
I think it’s BOTH.
I'd think it would be fair to counterattack these 'Church leaders' as being unChristian by their actions to encourage people to lie (entering a country illegally, and obtaining documents to hide their fraud).

Everything I’ve read about Gov. Martinez makes me think she’s another rising conservative star and perhaps even a dark horse candidate for VP.

Well, now, isn't the Catholic Church engaging in political advocacy? Wouldn't the IRS be interested to know how the Catholic Church of New Mexico is subverting our country?
