Obama's Jobs Speech Long on Promises, Weak On Substance (But pass it "right away"! /sarc)
Fox News ^ | 9/7/2011 | Douglas Holtz-Eakin

Posted on 09/08/2011 7:20:32 PM PDT by tobyhill

The weak underbelly of President Obama’s economic philosophy has been apparent for quite some time now. When faced with a choice between a social agenda and economic growth, choose ObamaCare.

When given the option of unions or economic growth, sit on trade agreements and empower the National Labor Relations Board.

Espouse the need to soak the rich and attack successful corporations – even if your own party blanches at raising taxes on American small business.

Let the green agenda at the Environmental Protection Agency undercut growth imperatives.

In short, make the wrong call on policy tradeoffs consistently. But when the chickens come home to roost – years of substandard growth and chronic high unemployment – argue that what is really needed is a “jobs bill” or “American Jobs Act”. As if economic growth was a government program.

For all these reasons, I did not expect the president's speech Thursday evening to be a policy home run. After all, the specifics – nearly all of which were leaked in advance – were warmed-over retreads from previous “jobs” speeches.

“In short, make the wrong call on policy tradeoffs consistently.”

Unless the goal is to put the USA into a permanent tailspin. Then he’s doing all the right things!

Remember he promised to totally transform America. This is all deliberate and planned.

What if the plan is to get 60% of the nation on welfare and get the top 3% of wage earners to pay for it all?

A lesson that Obama has yet to learn: the difference between the imaginary and the real.

We have to do it and do it soon. All of us us know that for us not to do it means that we will be in big trouble. Doing it is something that we all need to get together and just push ahead. And do it! There is no question that it is the thing that we have to do now! For us not to do it would be a disaster!

Note: Nobody knows what “it” is but apparently that is OK?

I used to think Obama had a King complex, but I have come to the realization that he is our National Drama Queen.

The guy was so over the top it was painful to watch.

The plan is to utterly crush the US system Cloward-and-Piven style, and then take advantage of the ensuing crisis to rebuild the country into his own Marxist image, imposing by force (and by “necessity!”) an economic system that the American people, under normal circumstances, would totally reject at the ballot box.

People joke that with Obama, Jimmy Carter is no longer the worst president in history. I would argue that, given the objectives outlined above, Obama, with every new dire and destructive piece of economic news, is fast becoming *the* most successful president in history. God help us.

Anyone else notice the teleprompter grammatical error when he said “a economic recovery” instead of “an economic recovery”? Who writes his stuff?

Seriously, I really want to know who owns the hand up Obama’s ass that’s pulling the strings and flapping the mouth.

Empty rhetoric, totally political, uninspiring. We’re all in it together and if we all don’t force each other to go along (shades of Lincoln) blah blah blah.

Embrace the socialism or it’s your fault. Every freakin job he talked about creating were union jobs, if you didn’t catch it. Cars. Bridge and road building. Teachers. Payback for his union buddies.

With Obama-care, Pelosi said we had to pass it to find out what was in it...

With this “Bill,” it will have to be passed before it is even written.

Did he take a course of Civics in his high school in Indonesia?

Yes, but unfortunately for us, he learned the Civics or Indonesia, which has a long history of dictatorships. Then he learned his politics from communists, terrorists, union thugs, and finally "the Chicago way" from the Daleys.
