Rick Perry: Stop Complimenting Obama
American Thinker ^ | 9/9/11 | Monte Kuligowski

Posted on 09/08/2011 10:21:10 PM PDT by American Dream 246

Rule number one for Republican presidential candidates should be: don't compliment Obama.

I only had opportunity to watch some of the primary debate last night and my first impression came at the wrong time. Gov. Rick Perry was asked a question and he began his answer by praising Obama for capturing Osama.

There is a time for southern compliments and small talk niceties; but now is not that time in context of preparing to run against a Chicago-machine politician who is at war with our way of life.

I don't recall Obama ever paying an honest compliment to President Bush. Bush was the enemy. Bush was effectively targeted as the devil by the media and the Obama campaign.

But that's not the main reason to refrain from complimenting Obama.

If anything, Mr. Perry should have pointed out that under Obama's America-is-the-bad-guy policies Osama would not have been captured. The enhanced interrogation - waterboarding -- which provided the pieces of intelligence to eventually capture Osama would not have been utilized. If Obama had been president on 9/12 he would have proactively thwarted the capture of bin Laden.

He complimented him and ripped him in the same sentence.
I think they call that sarcasm.

Being polite does not mean you have to compliment him.

On the other hand, it costs even less to use stand-off weapons, and you don’t have the chance of splash. :P

I think it’s because when he really starts busting Obama, and people start saying to him that he’s never said anything good about Obama, he can say “Sure, I have. Remember that first debate?” and then he can resume ripping Zero a new one.

I hate to say this, but that so called "tough" decision to kill Bin Landen, it would have been a no brainer for me. Obama is a pussy. He and his DummycRAT pals acted as traitors for most of Bush's term. There is no way in hell that I will give Obama any credit for the things that Bush would have done. NONE. ZERO. NADA. Not after the hell Obama, Code Pink, et. al put this country through.

I fully agree. At east, he could have given teh credit Bush. I thought that was, first a bad move - and second a UNelegant move to forget about what Bush did all these years to catch the guy and also at least be honest and say that it is because of waterboarding that of course obama hates, that the guy finally decided to give the order...how convenient...just 2 days after he showed a fake birth certificate, suddenly he kill osama...give me a break I don’t understand why Perry did that without giving credit - or even just..why he did it. Period.

If you look at the photo carefully, everybody tracking the operation in real time is intent, focused, involved (Hilary, the brass, etc.). But Obama looks sick or at best disengaged. He did not want it to happen, he did not want to see it, he did not want to be there.

I think Zero should be tried for treason.
That said, there are reasons to give Zero props.
1) It innoculates us a little when we attack him.
2) It upsets his base because we paise him for doing things they hate.
3)It shows integrity or fairness to acknowlege when he gets it right. Independant seem to like that.
4)It might tempt him to capitulate more.

What’s he done right that his base hates?
1) He was dragged kicking and screaming to extend the Bush tax cuts for everybody.
2) Killed UBL = reportedly almost passed on it.
3) Stopped EPA coal regulation at the last minute. (but only temporarily).

His moonbats hate these things. Keep reminding them and they may stay home next election.

Taste of his Texas campaigns, all of which he won and some with tough liberals.

I echo the sentiment. This is precisely the *wrong* time for that reaching across the isle bullpuckey. Obama "leads" like a Marxian socialist. There is absolutely nothing there worthy of unsolicited compliments. I too was a bit taken aback when Perry sugar-tongued Obama during the debate. Completely unnecessary.

The only southern compliment obama deserves is “Bless his heart” ... meaning he’s not real bright. IMHO

This must be a Texas cultural thing. If a New Yorker hears someone being complemented he assumes that the author actually means it because no New Yorker would complement anybody if he could possibly avoid it.

I assume it is a Texas thing because George Bush used to make me cringe when he complemented Teddy Kennedy or Bill Clinton, or any other Democrat he happened to see walking by.

Not impressed with Perry, way, way too much of the Bush mindset. Watch for this former(?) Rat to start apologizing to the Obama thugs like McCain did in the ‘08 campaign. Just like McCain and Bush, these dimpwads really have no true principles beyond their own career, it’s the Leftism in their Genetic Makeup...and it shines bright for those that have the sense to look.

I think he gave the bigger nod to the SEALs. Obama “succeeded” by not putting his sorry self in the way.
