Carol Bartz Exclusive: Yahoo "F---ed Me Over"
By Patricia Sellers September 8, 2011:
FORTUNE -- Here is what Carol Bartz thinks of the Yahoo (YHOO) board that fired her: "These people f---ed me over," she says, in her first interview since her dismissal from the CEO role late Tuesday.
Last evening, barely 24 hours after Yahoo chairman Roy Bostock called Bartz on her cell phone to tell her the news, she called from her Silicon Valley home ("There are reporters at the gate a lot of them.") to tell Fortune, exclusively, how the ax came down.
On Tuesday, Bartz was in New York, to speak at Citigroup's (C) technology conference the next day, when she was supposed to call Bostock at 6 p.m. "I called him at 6:06," she recalls. When he got on the line, she says, he started reading a lawyer's prepared statement to dismiss her. "I said, 'Roy, I think that's a script,'" adding, "'Why don't you have the balls to tell me yourself?'"
When Bostock finished reading, Bartz didn't argue"I got it. I got it," she told the Yahoo chairman. "I thought you were classier," she added. Recruited in January 2009 after successfully building Autodesk (ADSK), Bartz never was the turnaround chief that the Yahoo board had wanted.
Though she slashed costs and improved profit margins, she failed to improve revenue growth at a critical time when Yahoo has lost eyeballs and ad dollars to Google (GOOG) and Facebook. "They want revenue growth," says Bartz about the Yahoo board, "even though they were told that we would not have revenue growth until 2012."

So Palin or Bachmann shouldn’t be President then?
And Thatcher was a mistake as well right.
Intriguing...
LOL...Biblically I assume.....judging by your tag
Hope u didn't buy the stock too!
Provably.
Well, ain't you just somebody..........whoooowee !!
I heard she is a Hussein worshipper. If so, see ya sweets.
Sexist much?
Great story.
“She’s just pissed that the Chairman stuck to the legalese, and thereby denied HER lawyer, who was listening in and recording, any opportunity to sue over the dismissal process.”
That’s right. Also, 6:00 is 6:00 in man-world; not 6:06. I work with women who regularly and openly come in 15-30 minutes later than everyone else; apparently less is to be expected of these “professionals” (who don’t even have children that might cause such issues). As somone posted on another thread a while back: Is it legal to fire a woman?
I pray for her and her family through this tough time. It is tough to lose your job. No matter at what level.

I've had one for years, just for that purpose. When Amazon and Verizon etc, need an email address (and it has to be valid) for me to buy something or set up an account, I give them that good old Yahoo address and when they pass around that address to every spammer in the world, I don't care and believe me, it does get passed around.
It came as a surprise to me but the Tea Party Express turned out to be one of the worst spammers ever, literally thousands of emails from them. I never open them, so I don't actually know what's in them but when an organization sends me that many......it's super spam
She used the typical 3/5 Plan: A 5 year plan but she is out in 3, meaning it is a bogus plan that is all smoke and mirrors. It doesn’t take until 2012 to turn around Yahoo, it just takes her that long. Anyone can cut expenses or grow through acquisition to make the balance sheets look better, but try building a company’s revenues through actually building products and services people buy.
Not really.
Classy lady. /s
Man, I'm as old fashion as it gets, but I really believe there are many women who would and could make excellent executive material.
Just not liberals...
You're kidding, right?
This lady is worth tens of millions, if not hundreds of millions of dollars.
It's not like she was making $12/hr and got laid off. She'll be OK.

No I am not kidding. Just because she is worth millions doesn’t mean she is okay emotionally. I am sure she is finacially sound. However, I believe when a person loses their job it potentially takes a toll emotionally and it might even affect her family (especially when you worked hard and developed a lot friendships there). Her remarks strike me as someone that was hurt by the decision. I am sure she will move on like anyone else who loses their job, but in the short term I pray her and family gets through this.
