Economists Support President's Job Proposals, Worry About Do-Nothing Congress
ABC "News" ^ | September 9, 2011 | By SUSANNA KIM

President Obama's $447 billion American Jobs Act is getting mostly solid marks from business experts and economists, who worry that a divided Congress may be unable to pass anything meaningful in time.

Cecilia Rouse, economics professor at Princeton and former member of President Obama's Council of Economic Advisers, said the president is proposing a "sensible" package of strategies.

"They are a critical form of assistance for so many families as well as one of the fastest and most effective ways of helping to increase economic activity during a downturn," she said.

Rouse said the proposed employment tax cuts, for both employers and individuals, are warranted and investments in infrastructure "just make sense" given the numbers of unemployed construction workers and the low rates at which the federal government can borrow. Further state aid will help the economy a great deal given that public sector employment has been unusually hard hit in this downturn.

But she would have liked for Obama to have proposed more innovation for services that help the unemployed find jobs.

Fools.

Government do not exist to create jobs, nor do businesses exist to pay taxes.

Kool Aid.

“Economists” approve of Obama’s “jobs program” in the same way that “scientists” believe in global warming.

Yeah ABC, let’s interview a former Obama adviser and see if she agrees with Obama or not...

Sensible package of strategies?

All I heard from president right-a-way was that we should hire more teachers, fix those potholes and replace those broken school windows and chairs.

To quote Herman Cain . .

"We waited 30 months for this?"

More proof that professional “economists” don’t know a damned thing about how the economy really works. As if we needed more.

Ever watch the reality challenged Steve Liesman on CNBC? He is clueless, but hey, he’s an “economist.”

How in the world did they come to the title of this article? By *only* taking into consideration the first “economist’s” comments? She’s an Obama shill...

Is there a Princeton economist that is worth a buck of warm spit.

I have little to no respect for Princeton because of their economics professors (OK and Peter Singer too).

i quickly scanned the article, Rouse seems to be the only one of the four “economist” to fully support this plan- another crock of sh!t title from the criminal liberal media that does not support the facts of the article...

I’ve been terribly disappointed in Ben Stein. He’s been kissing Obama’s butt for 2 1/2 years now. He thought President Clueless gave a great speech last night. I am Pro-Israel but why are American Jews always in the tank for Liberal DemocRATS?

who worry that a divided Congress may be unable to pass anything meaningful in time

Most people above room temperature knew before Obozo gave "the speech of the Century", that the House will never pass any of his huge spending bills. I have no clue why these economists are praising something that does not have a one in a billion chance that it will find passage. Does Obozo just plan on spending these funds on his own without any Congressional approval? After all he was being counseled by his RAT party to go ahead and borrow funds in excess of the debt ceiling just a month ago. Why not just start speding on whatever he wants - no need for Congress anymore!!! /sarc

“Economist” is a code word for persons who seek ways to operate the government as a collective, promoting the communist philosophy that everything is a ‘system’ that must be controlled from the top down.

"The same establishment economists that created the mess."

That's right. The same ones who are wrong 100% of the time and then say "that was unexpected." If the so called expert economists back this then you can be sure it is wrong. But we don't need these "in the tank" economists to tell us anything. People with half a brain, and there seems to be fewer and fewer of those, know that the same old throw more money, create new commissions and so called shovel ready make work jobs will not do anything. Any economist, or anybody else for that matter, who goes along with such garbage is a fool.
