My wife and I flew to Oakland once for a day trip to visit San Francisco. From the airport we were bussed to a Bart terminal where we tried to pay to get on a train. The area was trashed beyond belief and the people gave me the creeps. I was consciously thinking it was out of one of those post apocolypse movies. “I am Legend”, but dustier, comes to mind now.

Anyway, we were so thoroughly disgusted that we got on the next bus to the airport and flew back home. I will never, ever go to California again.

That is such a shame.

I grew up in a beautiful state; when I was a kid, I swore I would never leave it. But now, things are so different. I went back to visit family last summer; the whole state had a run-down look to it. From the dead orchards and dried up fields in the Central Valley, to the buildings that have not been renovated since I was a kid (in the 60s!), I just don't see much of the original state left.

The worst part, for me, is that the liberals whose policies have trashed the state will never figure out what has gone wrong; they genuinely believe that the worse things get, the more leftist their policies need to be. It makes me lose hope that CA will ever improve.
