Good! Kill this stupid idea now. This train makes no sense whatsoever. Even if built, it will lose money every year.

Californians, being perhaps the country's stupidest people voted for this boondoggle but they don't want to pay for it. Nobody is stupid enough to loan money for this project so I don't think it will be built in the end. They need to stop wasting money on the planning and such. If it is to be built it must be paid for by Californians or others who will buy the bonds. I don't think there are that many stupid people out there.

The state of California has radio spots now begging for the public to buy their bonds. It's truly pathetic. Nobody with 1/2 a brain would buy a California General Obligation Bond no matter what the interest rate is. God help us.

Even if it did make sense, why should people from Florida to Alaska pay for it? There may be a few interstate projects where the US Department of Transportation can serve as a neutral arbiter between states having problems agreeing on things like where an interstate bridge should be placed or how the costs should be divided, but there is no reason why even those costs need to be spread past the states they runs through.

(I'll cut a little slack for defense highways through Alaska, but not bridges to nowhere for local benefits.)
