You can have a used double-wide on one acre of land for the cost of a new car. That means you can own it outright rather than paying $200,000-500,000 over 30 years for a house you may or may not be able to sell when you need to. Suppose you walk away with no value in the mobile home and just the land money when you sell. Youve banked (invested) all the mortgage money you would have spent otherwise.
Now, if you have to deal with school districts or a high-maintenance wife, all bets are off.
BTW, I now own outright 1600 square feet of cement floor garage/shop with remote operated doors. You have to have priorities.
