President Obamas jobs speech represented the lowest ratings hes received for any address to a joint session of Congress of his presidency.
The speech garnered 31.5 million viewers, according to the website TVbythenumbers, which was slightly lower than his Sept. 2009 health care speech to Congress, which drew 32.1 million viewers and is probably the fairest comparison.
But viewed against other addresses to Congress, it looks worse, and is part of a broader downward trend.
During his first speech to a joint session of Congress in February 2009, Obama drew 52.4 million viewers. His first official State of the Union Address on January 2010 drew 48 million viewers and this years SOTU had 42.8 million. His highest rated speech of all time was his speech on the death of Osama bin Laden, which drew 56.5 million viewers, though it wasnt to a joint session. Nor were his speeches on Iraq and Libya, which drew 29.2 million and 25.6 million, respectively.
35% drop in viewership.
Looks like the Obama show will be cancelled.
We’re tired of the talkin’ and the lyin’.
Why would anyone want to watch a rerun of a puppet show?
Am I too late to blame Bush or racism for the drop in ratings?
Obama been saying new Jobs Plan will be presented soon. Then he talks about it on national TV Thursday. He still has not presented a written jobs plan, all talk.
I had more important TV viewing - “The Honeymooner’s” with Ralph and Alice in a 12 hr Marathon of back-to-back episodes - TV Worth Watching!!!!
It sounds as though the “dumbing down of America” trend line might have leveled off. However, that 31.5 million number is way too high. We’ve still got work to do.
31.5 million people don’t have a life.
Zer0 rehersing his next stunt:

In his inimitable second Tuesday of next week style, he said the actual plan will go to congress “a week from Monday”.
People are sick and tired of OJiveTalkula!
31.5 million people watched? Holy moly. That’s a lot of maroons.
Viewership in my house 0%, as usual.
I will watch when he leaves office.
As usual, he got the whole thing bass-ackwards when he said: Pass this jobs bill pass this jobs bill, and starting tomorrow, small businesses will get a tax cut if they hire new workers or if they raise workers wages.
That would be a good trick because he won't even have a plan in writing available for debate until September 19 (but don't hold your breath).
Obama:
The agreement we passed in July will cut government spending by about $1 trillion over the next 10 years. It also charges this Congress to come up with an additional $1.5 trillion in savings by Christmas. Tonight, I am asking you to increase that amount so that it covers the full cost of the American Jobs Act. And a week from Monday, Ill be releasing a more ambitious deficit plan -- a plan that will not only cover the cost of this jobs bill, but stabilize our debt in the long run.
You have to remember some of those viewers just watch because it is cathartic to yell at the tv once in a while.
31.5 million viewers is nothing when you are broadcast on every major TV station (ABC, NBC, CBS, & zillions of cable channels). Shucks, the Super Bowl can get three times that number to watch one football game that is broadcast on just one channel!! Obama has lost the American public and voters!!! The 31.5 viewers relates to about 9% of the American population. Cut that in half, with half of the viewers anti-Obama and...Obama has about 16 million in his pocket. Of course, not all those folks will vote!!! So.....since the 2008 election produced over 100 million voters in total, Obama at the moment is toast!!!
One of those viewers was me. I taped the thing, and captured a text version so I could critique the ditz.
The, “Congress should pass this..., right away!” was downright comical. He kept saying it, and I kept laughing louder.
After the presentation, I went to twitter and ripped him a new one. OMG, all the Lefties there praising him at length. Talk about your walking dead.
I invite folks to join me after his next B.S. performance. We should own #obama and #presidentobama after these events.
A great day indeed!
