Texas used to be hard-core Dem, as Perry was a Dem too : remember it was a DEM District Attorney who jailed and convicted Tom DeLay. Perry can claim to be conservative, but supporting ANY Dem back in 1988 when Reagan was still in office (think how the Dems lambasted him, and recall the expression "we're gonna BORK him") means you're not convincing ME you're a movement conservative.

Also, there were other RINOs running against Perry, funny enough for such a supposedly conservative state.

And then there's the matter of Perry pushing Rodriguez to the Texas Supreme Court over the guy who won the racial preferences case at the University of Texas...

Cheers!

Order of magnitude isn't good enough. The economy is currently wiggling AT the point of no return.

Perry's pay-for-play cronyism is not sufficient to save the country.

And I'm not peddling crazy. People just don't like to step outside of comfortable paradigms. I sent you another post with a link to the similarities between Perry and Obama.

It's Hugh and Series.

You might even find your beeber stuned.

Cheers!

You sent me a post with your opinion.

And if your opinion is that Perry is Texas Obama, it’s hyped garbage.

This site deserves a lot better than what we’ve been seeing lately.

I'll reply tomorrow: I just realized it's nearly 2AM.

Cliffs notes are, check out newspaper articles from his earlier years as gov, with Dem opposition research.

E.g. 1 year after becoming governor, he plopped down money to buy an acre of lakefront property for ~$300,000 with another influential Republican.

Six years later he sold it for $1.14 million.

That just smells bad.

There is a spreadsheet supposedly showing all the wonderful economic returns of the TEF (Texas slush fund) ; the footnotes include "anticipated jobs and indirect jobs and economic activity" or some such; it's not a straight, counting, delineation of the economic benefits.

One of the companies ($12 or $20 million, I'm too tired to remember) was Angelo Mozilla's Countrywide in the middle of the bubble: another FReeper has posted earlier tonight about the appearance of impropriety there.

Then there is the report of a bunch of Rich Texans pulling together $55 million in order to rocket Perry through the early GOP primary states and in effect "buy" him the nomination.

There must be more than merely parochial "favorite son" pride behind this.

You get the idea.

There's a lot more, particularly in the proposed Trans-Texas Corridor, in which I read tonight a Guiliani-owned firm (Perry supported Guiliani for Prez in 2008) stood to make a lot of money.

Screw tomorrow, those answers are enough to demonstrate good faith and give you the material to begin your own investigations, or ask other informed Freepers about it.

Cheers!

Refute the individual points substantively then.

This site deserves a lot better than what we’ve been seeing lately.

Yeah, we should ZOT all the Perrysites and Perrybots and Romneybots, all the paid DU infiltrators, all the GOP RINO establishment spies, who are working alike to undermine the site and destroy the trust conservatives have in one another.

Let the RINOs climb in the barrel and swallow this election.

Cheers!

I had problems with the TTC but not like the problems we have with Obama.

And here is the huge diff. Perry capitulated to the people.

Obama shoved it up our ***

He didn't capitulate on Gardasil: he bragged that the legislature couldn't override an executive order, but when they DID, he feigned a change of heart and said he'd listened to the people.

I'll read up on the TTC: but recall that the tolls were slated to go to a *Spanish* firm. Not exactly putting America first, eh?

Cheers!

Order of magnitude isn't good enough. The economy is currently wiggling AT the point of no return.

Do you know what an order of magnitude is? Would you support one order of magnitude difference from Obama? Who is running that's two orders of magnitude?

We need to stand together to stop this Regime's destruction. We can argue our candidates pluses and minuses without becoming parrots of Slate or Texas Tribune.

Who do you think your posts helps? Only Obama.

It's worse than crazy. It's dumb - and we don't have the luxury of dumb this election.

How good can they do when they are fighting for a woman to be President who is not even running. It’s over the top hysteria and smash mouth. I don’t understand it. I liked Palin until I met some of her supporters...

I had one of them tell me Perry takes “kick backs” from corporations (he’s a criminal). No Governor of Texas would get away with taking kickbacks and especially not Perry given he has irked the Texas legal establishment with law suit reform.

For me, I have plenty to say about Perry that I don’t like. But I see plenty in him that I like, too. And I like him much better than Romneycare. He’s not a socialist and he can balance the budget. He has some good reform idea.

You have to pretend you are speaking with Marxists who have proclaimed Sarah is their Messiah. Mmmm Mmm mmm mmm Sar ah Pal in!

Gardisil is a BS issue.

He will get flak for TTC but he ultimately listened to the constituency.

First let me say..I don't feel compelled to convince you of anything.

No doubt Texas was a predominately Dem state at one time. What does that have to do with anything? Many states have changed their politics thru the years. In 1988, the change had not yet been completed. In 1988, yes, Reagan was in office...but I don't believe he was running for president that year, was he? I think GWHB was the candidate for president on the “R” ticket, was he not? Not that I think supporting a Dem of any flavor is a good thing...but at the time it was what it was. (and before you ask...no I did not)

Austin is a different creature. Ronnie Earl is an Austin Dem baby. He had his panties wadded up over the redistricting a few years before that DeLay engineered. Darn..he tried to get a Repub majority. A lot of the charges were dismissed against DeLay...and I predict that all will be. They are unwarranted.

So I guess there were no other RINOs running in any other state? Just Texas? You make me laugh. It is only recently that the movement has taken hold to boot these people from office. It is happening.

You may correct me if I'm wrong (and I know you will, lol) but aren't judges in Texas voted for in general elections? I know they are on the ballot when I vote. But I will look at your point before you tell me I'm wrong. Cheers back at ya.

I'd settle for rational informed debate over the merits of our choices without trashing the candidates that are running to defeat the regime with hype that only helps our opposition.

It reminds me of the Perot and Buchanan wars on FR. I hate to see it because it only helps our foes.

And with Obama in power, we no longer have time for such foolish antics.

It seems some on here think the liberal media in Texas didn’t do their job well enough and need some help on FR.

So before you slap me down...Rodriguez was an appointed interim judge. He lost his reelection. Look at the guy’s creds..not bad.

If you are trying to infer that he was appointed because of his surname..give me a break.
