How about all the first responders who surely knew entering the building to try to help others was a suicide mission at best?

See, I disagree. These were people just doing their job. They had been trained to run into burning buildings. They just didn't expect these burning buildings to collapse. You can be quite sure that after the first tower fell, no one climbed up any stairs in the other tower while it still stood.

Your two posts on this thread took the words out of my mouth. I’m sick and tired of hearing about the 300 or so “hero” police and firemen They were just doing their jobs - that is the kind of work they signed up for. We rarely hear tributes to the thousands of innocent people from all walks of life who worked in those buildings. I was especially sickened by a firemans comment on the radio yesterday when he said he was angered by the lack of recognition for two firement who were killed by falling bodies while walking away from the toweers.
