"Secure the borders before going after private employers... protection of the border is the responsibility of the federal govt and it can’t pass the buck over to everyone else."

While securing the border is essential, it alone will never be sufficient to stop the invasion and occupation by illegals for several reasons.

1) Nearly half of the illegals in our country came here legally admitted for temporary stays but never left.

2) As long as the magnet of American jobs and social services are available a border fence will only lower the number coming, but millions will be smuggled in the same ways as illegal drugs (ex. In freight shipments, by boats and through hidden tunnels). Look at illegal alien smuggling from Africa into Europe when their is no common border.

The failure of Reagan's comprehensive "Immigration Reform & Control Act" of 1986 was that the non-Amnesty half of the bill that cracked down on employment of illegals was never seriously implemented. And that failure gave us the 12-20 million illegals we have today.

If the "costs of doing business" is promoting the invasion and occupation that is destroying America's sovereignty and future - let that business fail!

Actually, immediately, the following morning after the debate, the MSM started in on the SS issue regarding Perry.

That would be way before Bachmann said anything about it.

These people are competing. It is normal to see a weakness and move in with your own ideas. I will say the jury is out. I will wait and see what she, herself has to say. Now it is Bachmanns turn to clarify. Maybe that is why she took this tack. To get face time in a debate.

I don’t really care because I know that all of them on that stage would most likely reform SS. That is if they win enough seats in the Senate.

What I care about is immigration. Perry loses that one. I like my candidate to care more about American citizens, and what they want, over illegal lawbreakers.

I don’t think Bachmann could win the nomination. We will probably get someone who has already been promised because it is his turn.

Lou Dobbs exposed (in 2007) the corporate fraud - winked at by their crony capitalist government partners - in the "legal" worker visa program:

It wasn’t just the MSM who was all over Perry’s comments. In “spin alley” a Romney aide was already talking about it. They knew it was coming, based on Perry’s book. They were just waiting for him to SAY it in a debate. The flier was already ‘in the can,’ ready to distribute in FL.’

Then, for whatever reason, MB jumped on that bandwagon. Strategically, she’d have done better to let Romney carry that one. For her, of all people, to distort Perry’s position, and to align herself with those who believe (or at least are NOW saying, for strictly political benefit) SS is just honky-dory, is more than a puzzle.

Upthread someone said she should stick with her positives. This, of all arguments, is unseemly.

However, the objective right now is to knock perry out.
It's not my objective. Of course it's Bachmann's objective. What I'm saying is attacking Perry on SS is going to backfire on her badly, and make her look bad.

“If the “costs of doing business” is promoting the invasion and occupation that is destroying America’s sovereignty and future - let that business fail! “

It will be another expensive mandate on ALL businesses already tired of excessive regulations from the federal govt. The feds need to own up to their problem, prevent these guys from coming in the first place and shouldn’t turn businesses into unpaid border control agents.

Having said that, the govt shouldn’t be giving welfare to illegals. Many would leave if they were denied the free goodies. Heck, many real Americans would also leave if they couldn’t get welfare anymore.

Exactly correct--all the way!! Bachmann has more to lose than gain by attacking Perry. This woman is in dire straits or she wouldn't be doing this.

I don't like liars and if she says Perry wants to destroy SS and take it away from those who now receive it, she is a liar and not deserving of the Oval office. We have one liar in there now and don't need another one.

Well, we should get an idea this week.
I’ll wait. Doesn’t matter if she isn’t going to win. I don’t think Bachmann is the type to say SS is fine like it is. I figure she probably intends to hit him about what he would do.

I think the Perry bounce is because there are still many people who don’t know much about him. He sounds different and maybe folks think he can win. They just want Obama gone.

Most people don’t pay attention as we do.

As usual, in the GOP race, the media will always find a way to spotlight the candidates we are supposed to choose.

If it wasn’t for Obama, I would stay home. But, I will vote for whoever it is.

Rollins has not left the Bachmann campaign. He has changed roles but if you’d have heard him after the debate, it was obvious he has not left the campaign.

Did you miss "1) Nearly half of the illegals in our country came here legally admitted for temporary stays but never left."

There is no controlling illegal aliens if aliens in the country are not controlled. That includes preventing them from working here. If an "American" business considers that "excessive" too bad. Unlike all the other unnecessary/questionable regulations, national sovereignty is the first responsibility of the federal government under even the most traditional conservative interpretation of the Constitution.

So just go after the illegals. Directly. Go after anyone with a temporary visa. But don’t go after all the businesses. You said “preventing them from working here.” I would prevent illegals from coming and staying here no matter what they do and leave everyone else alone.

What about all the illegals that don’t work? I would think that’s the biggest problem because they are causing more crime, taking money and not producing anything. I don’t understand why you’d favor this roundabout system with layers of bureaucracy and punish everyone EXCEPT the crooks and freeloaders.

I’m sure the South Koreans sleep sounder than they would otherwise with American taxpayer dollars and military presence...which is more than the ranchers and their families on our southern border can say at the moment.

I’m finding a LOT of people around here are getting their bowels in an uproar over something they have absolutely NO control over, none at all. This will play itself out regardless of what we want, think, feel. It’ll be up to the candidates and their teams to battle it out. All we can do is sit on the sidelines and watch and/or cheer.

Overall, I think this ‘12 GOP group is stronger than in ‘08. Every single one of them has strengths and weaknesses. None is perfect, but I’ve yet to see any absolute disqualifiers, at least among the top tier. I’m finding some impressive strengths among some 2nd tier candidates as well. There’s not one I would object to seeing fill a cabinet slot in a R Administration come Jan 20, 2013.

I believe you are right. I agree.

It is up to them to make it or break it.

I disagree. Employers can e-verify right now. Every employer who hires illegals is just as illegal as the invaders. Even worse, they are traitors. I’m not worried about how much it costs them. It should cost them more than they even imagine. It is already costs us our sovereignty, our tax dollars and our lives.

As for the goods they produce, let more intelligent business owners come along and get the job done and let the laws of economics work.

He is now saying that he isn’t trying to get rid of it, he wants to reform it.

If you look at the transcipt of the debate, that is consistent with what he said at the time - it just wasn't reported by the MSM or by Romney and Bachmann.

"And people who are on Social Security today, men and women who are receiving those benefits today, are individuals at my age that are in line pretty quick to get them, they don't need to worry about anything. But I think the Republican candidates are talking about ways to transition this program, and it is a monstrous lie.

It is a Ponzi scheme to tell our kids that are 25 or 30 years old today, you're paying into a program that's going to be there. Anybody that's for the status quo with Social Security today is involved with a monstrous lie to our kids, and it's not right.

You cannot keep the status quo in place and not call it anything other than a Ponzi scheme. It is."

Governor Perry clearly calls for keeping benefits for current retirees and people soon to be retired, and also calls for a change in the "status quo" for younger people.

She believes Social Security needs to be saved, that it's an important safety net for Americans who have paid into it all their lives."

Baloney.

Social Security is a fascist disaster that needs to be ended sooner rather than later. If Rep. Bachmann hasn't the guts to do that, she needs to get out of the way of those who do.

Well I agree, that is what they all are saying. But, Perry wasn’t clear enough in the debate.

Fair is fair. One minute to answer about SS is not fair.

I don’t think we have a candidate that would opt to keep the current system.

But...the trick is to make it clear what your intent is.

These folks are in a competition. You take what you can get when someone looks weak as an opportunity to put your plan out there.

Rather than SS, I would go after Perry on immigration. That record is shameful.
