Why is it that I think there is more to this story. Durkee may be somewhat of a convenient patsy. As I understand it, Feinstein is saying she “may have been” whiped out. What a wonderful way to be able to be home free with all that money and not have to account for it other than saying it’s not there so Durkee must have taken it.
What I think people fail to realize is that a lot of DiFi’s wealth (actually, her hubby’s wealth, but let’s put that aside for a moment) is tied up in relatively illiquid assets - like real estate.
Which, if you wanted to convert it to cash for a campaign, would entail selling at the low point of the market just now.
So I’m not entirely skeptical of the idea that DiFi will be in a hard place with this theft of her funds.
And as far as I’m concerned, it couldn’t happen to a more deserving group of people.
