Perry's responses to illegal aliens was even weaker: (parphrasing)

- You can't build a wall/fence from Texas to California. (The 15th century Ming Dynasty didn't get that memo!)

- Texas doesn't deny in-state tuition based on how your last name sounds. (Ah, so that's how they award tuition scholarships in Texas... based on how yer last name sounds, pard'ner!)

- It was either in-state tuition for those student or putting them on the Dole. (What kind of an either/or choice is that, as if notifying ICE was not an option?)

The Ming Dynasty and the Russians didn’t hesitate to shoot intruders either. We don’t seem to want to do that.

That is known in philosophy (logic) parlance as: escaping between the horns of a dilema, i.e., one comes up with another reasonable alternative that necessarily follows.

Too many people don't know how to think (feeling, i.e., emoting, one's way through life is NOT thinking); their only recourse to logical rebutal is anger.

Anger in any argument is a sure sign of either a weak position, or having a huge emotional investment in said position causing anger. There is NO emotion in logical; it is cold, calculated, empirical and objective (w/out regard to preference, tradition, ovulatory cycle or other emotionally predisposing condition).

I will posit that America needs a rational and logical policy to deal with immigrant scofflaws that have a huge potential to become exceedingly productive members of our society after benefiting from educational programs available to them through the largess of the American taxpayer.

Perry was weak on his answer. Illegal aliens are prohibited by law from working nor can they legally collect benefits (the dole.) So why should Texas taxpayers subside them?

TX has 1800 miles of fence between TX and Mexico. Border security is a federal function. TX has already spent $400 million on security as it is. You need boots on the ground and predator drones. Perry has asked Obama for assistance and has been refused several times. Heck, Obama won’t even deport criminals picked up in TX, so what is Perry supposed to do. Now his retort on the students in college was weak, but here is the situation. Republicans control both houses. This was not Perry’s bill. it was passed by the Legislature with only 4 no votes. Perry could follow the bill passed by the Legislature and make it law, or he could force his wishes on the entire Legislature and veto the bill. If a bill is passed by the Legislature Perry is more inclined to sign the bill or sunset it and let it become law. Much more complex than stated.
