Was Mitt Romney Honest About His Immigration Record?
thegatewaypundit.com ^ | September 13, 2011 | Jim Hoft

Last night at the CNN-Tea Party debate Mitt Romney said this about his immigration record:

“In Massachusetts, they enforce illegal immigration and if they are in MA illegally, they get them out.”

Really Mitt? Here’s the video:

Here is what On the Issues website has to say about Mitt’s immigration record:

FactCheck: MA state cops never enforced immigration laws Romney claims in his TV ad that he put state troopers on the trail of illegals in his state. But he didn’t do so until he had less than a month left in his term. He was already considering running for president, and the new governor-elect was expected to rescind the arrangement.

Romney began talking about giving troopers the power to make arrests on immigration charges earlier in 2006, but he didn’t sign an agreement with the federal government–a necessary condition for that authority to be granted– until Dec. 13, 2006. Romney was scheduled to leave office Jan. 4, 2007. Democrat Deval Patrick, who had won the race to succeed Romney, had already said the program was a “bad idea” because troopers were busy enough as it was.

Sure enough, Patrick rescinded the agreement within his first week in office so troopers could “focus on enforcing MA laws.”

FactCheck: Took no action against 4 Mass. sanctuary cities

Romney promises in his TV ad, “As President, I’ll oppose amnesty, cut funding for sanctuary cities and secure our borders.” Romney might well get tough on sanctuary cities in the future, but he didn’t when he was governor.

As I recall, Mitt repeatedly “warned” his landscapers about hiring illegals.

Fine Job there Mitty. LOL

I lived in MA when Mitt was gov. Public Aid workers were not allowed, by law, to ask applicants if they were illegal. Illegals routinely leapfrogged ahead of disabled vets for public housing. The vet would be living somewhere—with relatives, for example—and the illegal would say he/she was on the street. Voila: illegal gets the perk, vet dies on the waiting list.

Mitt has flip-flopped on this many times. When he’s talking before a Tea Party-type crowd, he’ll talk all day long about how they should be caught and deported. When he’s in front of a more progressive crowd, he’ll talk about legalizing them and making them productive citizens instead of just throwing them out because we all “know” that it is impossible to round up 12 million illegals.

The concept that Mitt and nearly all candidates miss is that you don’t have to go out and round up 12 million illegals. If you make it prohibitively difficult for them to operate, they’ll self-deport.

He’s a Mormon.

If Mormon’s can’t be honest with themselves about the conflicts between scripture and what their self professed prophet taught, then why would you expect them to be honest with us.

“”“In Massachusetts, they enforce illegal immigration and if they are in MA illegally, they get them out.” “”

When Mitt said that last night, I immediately thought about Obama’s aunt and uncle who have lived illegally in Massachusetts for decades.

Talk is cheap Mitt!!!

When I was working in North Andover they exposed a lady who was a liason at the Dominican embassy and collecting welfare checks in Lawrence. The government actually gave seminars to “immigrants” on how to get benefits. There was also a big scam going on where legal citizens would bring over their parents by guaranteeing to support them and as soon as they arrived the parents would go on welfare and Medicaid.

Howie Carr had an Eastern European caller on his show and asked him why the world thought of America as the world’s retirement community. He essentially blamed the government, saying if you offer someone free goodies don’t be surprised when they come in and take them. Of course he was right. Illegals aren’t the ones writing the laws and they aren’t the ones not enforcing them, they just reap the benefits.

Remember when he spoke before a crowd of illegal aliens in Miami in 2008 ???

He wore a Mexican looking shirt...

Promised them all sorts of goodies..

BTW he called them “Latinos” last night...

he never said illegal aliens or even illegal immigrants...

Oh yes. And if this is how he bows to the pro-illegals, he’ll be converted to islam 5 minutes after he hits the White House. No way should this guy be president.
