I can see a result somewhat similar to Lebanon where Hezbollah set up a parallel government in the south. You could see the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt work out an arrangement with the Egyptian military where the Brotherhood maintains their own militia and stakes out a claim to certain areas.

It would be easy for the military to do this since it would avoid direct conflict with the Brotherhood. Once this becomes the status quo, Iran would no doubt be happy to start shipping advanced weapons to the Brotherhood. It’s a trap for the Egyptian military that would be all to easy to fall into.

The unity of a democratic front? Bani-Sadr was too westernized for the street to tolerate him any longer than they did. He was window dressing that had served its purpose, and then he was swept out in favor of an Islamic government. It's what the people in Iran wanted at the time. Now they have it, and Shariah is the wave of the future of the Middle East - until God himself says their time is up.
