Wall Street "Reform" Just More Crony Capitalism
Real clear Politics ^ | May 20 2011 | Paul Ryan

Posted on 09/14/2011 7:16:34 AM PDT by Marty62

....."Over the past decade, the thinking has been much less clear for conservatives. Being "pro-market" has been fundamentally confused with "pro-business." Conservatives who came to Congress to defend and promote free enterprise have often been led to believe that pathway lies in bolstering established firms as they navigate the maze of government regulations and taxes. These instincts are correct, but the implementation is often flawed. All too often, the results of these efforts have been to exacerbate crony capitalism - erecting barriers to entry against potential competitors to firms that are currently on top.

For their part, companies seeking such protection have a right to pursue their narrow self-interest; but when these actions involve reducing open competition and transparency for short term gain, they do so to the detriment of the very free enterprise system that made their success possible."

Last night Ryan exolained true crony capitalim. He stated that Legislators that pass laws or regs that favor one business or another THAT is croney capitalism.

From Green subsidies to bio fuel subsidies. THAT is crony capitalism. The croney Capitalism of the "progressives" is destroying America.

As Palin took the lead on—and now Gingrich and Ryan are seconding—it is not just Democrats who are stifling this country with crony capitalism.

Wouldn’t it be something if Ryan and Gingrich ended up endorsing Palin!

His point is (I think) that when the House and Senate pick winners, passing oneous regs etc to stifle competition we have the mess we are in now.

For over a decade R And D pols have been kissing the A**es of the enviros and progressives.

The EPA that originally was a good org. Has now turned into a vicious matastisis, destroying the free enterprise system.
between the EPA and the croney capitalist Congressd it is no wonder America is in such dire straits.

As you can see Paul wrote this in 2010.
The earliest I can find Palin mentioning it is Sept of 2011.

If so she disingenuously twisted it to attack Perry.

Ryan would not endorse someone that took his idea and twisted it.

Makes me wonder if Bachmann/Palin?Gingrich are for the stu quo in Gov.

I agree all of them need MAJOR staff downsizing and no more lobbiests. They are all elected to not SERVE but to get wealthy in schemes you and I would be arrested for.SEARCH government gone wild. Who is going to stop it?It is a beast and now Obama gives the beast a head and arms.Seriously who can stop it?If someone ran on doing this as soon as they got their (if they did)the same old crap of the dems rule they are corrupt then the GOP gets in and appears to fix it.No one fixes it.BOTTOM LINE.So why not go with the LEAST leftist candidate to get Obama out until it happens?

Thanks to Sarah's exposition/explanation of “Crony Capitalism” in her talk in, was it Iowa?, and how even the Blame-stream media picked up on it, everyone is jumping on the band wagon.

So this scandal that is a blaring example of just what “Crony Capitalism” is, for the ‘masses’ to understand it, couldn't have come at a better time.

Put that together with Sarah's track record of taking on Crony Capitalism - regardless of what party the crooks belong to - makes it HER issue. The others are but followers, jumping on the band wagon, hoping some credit will stick to them.

‘Doesn't matter...it's working. The more people understand it, the more things shift against it - then the more the politicians will climb aboard.

If we get Sarah in there, she can clean house, like she did in Alaska, and just maybe we can save our country and restore it's core values.

Interesting. ‘Cept Palin’s been fighting crony capitalism for 20 years in Alaska.

She hasn’t twisted anything to attack the infamous crony capitalist in the texas governor’s seat.

You are incorrect! What Ryan wrote above, Palin said practically in her book ‘American by Heart’ last year.....the talk about pro market vs Pro business and cronyism is in there

Paul Ryan is not dumb. He knows the power that Palin is about to command, once she enters the race - (he’s looking for cover) and he doesn’t want to appear on the wrong side of her ‘other’ assault on WA DC (the Permanent Political Class).

Where YOU been?

Sarah has been working in the field against Crony Capitalism for years. That's what she did in Alaska. As governor, she tackled it head on - and cleaned house of the crooked cronies of big business, REGARDLESS of which party they belonged too. (That resulted in even top republicans doing the perp walk.)

SARAH is the spearhead on Crony Capitalism, whether you like it or not. And this is one of, if not THE, most important issue that can right our country and save our freedoms - AND get our small businesses back to providing jobs.

Hopefully, conservatives will realize this and not form circular firing squads by myopic "if it isn't MY candidate" attracts on the person that could most serve to restore our country.

Yes, back then it was the “good ol’ boy” network.

So she doesn't get credit for it unless she actually called it “crony capitalism” according to the idiotic criteria of the poster.

The problem I have with the alaska thing is that she got a windfall from the Oil indutry and turned around and gave a gov. check to the peeps of AK. Why not reduce taxes? I can think of several ways to use the money rather than just handing out a check.

I know about how they “spread the wealth” like the Saudi’s do. but don’t claim to be this big bad reformer when you have a few skeletons in your closet.

Your missing my point.

Palin and Bachmann are blaming Capitalism. Like the rad left(mike moore types).

Ryan actually understand WHERE the problem REALLY lies.

Business is just doing what they have learned to do by Congress. You want to survive. Here’s my Campaign phone number.
They BUY Legislation.
Frankly RYAN is actually the go to guy for all things fiscal. I agree with Ryan, close all loopholes and reduce taxes.

Hardly Sarah Palin. Especially if she doesn’t see where CC actually does the most damage. CONGRESS

Some of the complaints against “crony capitalism” are getting ridiculous. Is it “crony capitalism” for a candidate like Rick Perry to favor building roads that are needed to minimize the costs of congestion (time and gas) and worn-out cars just because some of his friends may be in the road building business? Does a candidate have to vote against requiring vaccinations that protect children, or soldiers, against deadly diseases, and have been proven safe in many studies, simply because some of his friends are in the vaccine-making business?

Then you didn’t read or watch her Sept 3 speech .....the cronyism she was talking about was about D.C. and the wheeling and dealing with Big Business.....it’s that same thing Ryan and you are saying! Look it up on FR

All she did was break up the Pol Party good ole boy network.
Murkowski just reinstated it.

NAME ONE supposed Crony Capitalist example she “took down”.

Yes I agree. It is rediculous. The flat Earth society is alive and well.
If any exec votes for the wrong candidate (depending on which side of issue you are on), or gives money to a candidate (LEGAL BTW) then somehow they are capitalist PIGS.

When Businesses large and small (if they have the money) are forced to buy Legislation just to survive, it is not that hard to see where the real problem lies.
