“You’ll find Episcopalians, Presbyterians, and Unitarians around here who do. “
Ok, the liberal denominations.
The liberal of everything supports redistribution of wealth. Name a group (Pacific Islanders, bankers, college professors, car salesmen, Kiwanis, Jews,) and the liberal among them will be Marxist in theory.
So I wouldn’t blame the church any more than any other group.
A push toward biblical economics would be a push for personal responsibility, property rights, and charity.
Not towards communitariasm.
The problem with the liberal “church” is that they disregard Scripture wherever it doesn’t fit into their narrative.
Correct, which is many of them all over the country varying by degree. When Perry espouses Christian values, one must ask if his support for Texas' variant of the Dream Act represents those values. Yet the implementation of said act requires exactly the taking of private property by force for support of an illegal act, regardless of the motive or however virtuous the use of those funds might be.
It's very easy to blather about how much one loves the Lord, is saved, whatever, but a political leader soliciting support MUST explain how said "Christian values" translate into policy or else one must consider such statements to be transparent demagoguery of the worst kind.
Perry knows people will interpret what his statements mean subjectively. So unless he clarifies how those values translate into policy, the entire pronouncement is rendered an act of dishonest manipulation.
So I wouldnt blame the church any more than any other group.
Church organizations are responsible for the theology of their divinity schools, many of which are far to the left of the membership. This is a process which began with the Sabbatean contributions to the organization and construction of yeshivot for reform Judaism and has been extended into Christianity the same way and by the same European banking families (there is an excellent history on this pattern written by an Orthodox rabbi by the name of Marvin Antelman). The resulting drift to the left of a good many religious institutions into everything from Marxism, to gay marriage, and to excusing ephebophilia has thus been no accident. PCUSA has been a prime example.
The problem with the liberal church is that they disregard Scripture wherever it doesnt fit into their narrative.
That's "the problem" that originates with replacement theology in the first place, which includes a whole bunch of denominations, including those who claim to be conservative. The misunderstanding of Rav Shaul in Romans, Galatians, and Corinthians is finally starting to come to light after nearly 600 years of Luther's pique. Either G-d's Word means the same as when it was first spoken or it doesn't. He hasn't changed it and neither did Paul. We did. That is why much of my current study is directed to translation work from the Hebrew, particularly as regards understanding the perspective of the pastoral nomads who wrote most of the Tanakh.
