So, a Grenade and Rocket Launcher Found Near Rio Grande
Townhall ^ | 9/15/2011 | Katie Pavlich

Posted on 09/15/2011 4:35:35 PM PDT by Bob Mc D

U. S. Border Patrol agents seized six assault rifles, one rocket launcher, a grenade launcher, and three packages of what appeared to be C-4 explosives Tuesday near the Rio Grande.

Agents patrolling the river near Fronton spotted a black bag in the brush. Inside, agents found the guns, rocket launcher, grenade launcher and explosives, along with a lower receiver for an assault rifle and 20 ammunition magazines.

Too bad the Obama Administration can't blame law abiding gun shop owners in the United States for this one. Why? Because you cannot buy rocket and grenade launchers at their stores.

Ditto. I wonder if they would let you keep the magazines after a period of time? I know, wishful thinking, they are going in a storage unit and destroyed after all info can be dug up on them. What a waste.

This is correct. These sorts of things are generally bought at gun shows, at least according to the MSM.

Obama Talked About "Gun Tracing" in 2009
Townhall ^ | 7/28/11 | Katie Pavlich
FR Posted on Thursday, July 28, 2011 by Nachum

During testimony on Capitol Hill, we heard Former ATF Special Agent in Charge William Newell admit he was in contact with White House National Security staffer Kevin O'Reilly about Operation Fast and Furious as early as September 2010. Newell also admitted that the DHS, IRS, DEA, ATF, ICE and the Obama Justice Department were all heavily involved and were full partners in coming up with the concept and execution of Operation Fast and Furious. Attorney General Eric Holder and President Obama still deny authorizing the lethal program, despite President Obama specifically asking Holder to conduct a complete review (Excerpt) Read more at townhall.com ...

AG Holder discussed "Project Gun Runner" in April 2009 in Mexico.
FR POSTED Friday, July 08, 2011 by Glock The Vote
SOURCE: DOJ release | April 2, 2009

US Attorney General Eric Holder at the Mexico/United States Arms Trafficking Conference CUERNAVACA, MEXICO ~ Thursday, April 2, 2009 Remarks as prepared for delivery.

ATTY GEN HOLDER: First, let me express my thanks to (Mexican) Attorney General Medina Mora and Secy of Government Gomez Mont for making this conference possible. This is my first trip to another country as Attorney General.

I wanted to come to Mexico to deliver a single message: We stand shoulder-to-shoulder with you in this fight against the narcotics cartels. The United States shares responsibility for this problem and we will take responsibility by joining our Mexican counterparts in every step...

And, together, we will win – thanks in large part to the courage of my Mexican colleagues here today, who are on the front lines every day, and with whom I am proud to collaborate.

The topic that has been addressed over the past two days could not be more important – the development of an arms trafficking prosecution and enforcement strategy on both sides of the border.

I would like to thank the Mexican and U.S. experts who have worked so hard on this issue. On our side, Secretary Napolitano and I are committed to putting the resources in place to increase our attack on arms trafficking into Mexico.

Last week, our administration launched a major new effort to break the backs of the cartels. My department is committing 100 new ATF personnel to the Southwest border in the next 100 days to supplement our ongoing Project Gunrunner, DEA is adding 16 new positions on the border, as well as mobile enforcement teams, and the FBI is creating a new intelligence group focusing on kidnapping and extortion.

DHS is making similar commitments, as Secretary Napolitano will detail. But as today’s conference has emphasized, the problem of arms trafficking will not be stopped at the border alone. Rather, as our experts emphasized, this is a problem that must be met as part of a comprehensive attack against the cartels – an attack in depth, on both sides of the border, that focuses on the leadership and assets of the cartel.

This is the type of full-bore, prosecution-driven approach that the U.S. Department of Justice took to dismantle La Cosa Nostra – once the most powerful organized crime group operating in the United States. With partners like those we have here today, I am confident that together, we will defeat these narcotics cartels in exactly the same way. I am proud to stand with you, and to join you in this fight.

Thank you again for inviting me here. ####

REFERENCE America's Third War: Is the U.S. Arming Mexican Cartels?
FoxNews.com | May 31, 2011 | William La Jeunesse
FR Posted on Thursday, June 02, 2011 by neverdem

If you ever watch video or look at pictures of Mexican drug wars, you see some pretty heavy weapons. It is a war being waged with rockets and plastic explosives, not pea shooters and Saturday Night Specials.

Consider these incidents:- A M26A2 fragmentation grenade used against a U.S. Consulate in Mexico in 2008 - Explosive projectiles and 21 grenades found during a raid in Guadalupe - An unexploded grenade and pull ring used to attack a TV station in Monterrey - Automatic weapons, including U.S.-made M16s, found at a cartel crime scene in May 2009- U.S. military-issued ammunition found in a cartel raid in Reynosa in November 2008. You can't buy this stuff at a U.S. gun store. So where do the cartels get it?

According to leaked diplomatic cables, there are three sources.

1. US Defense Department shipments to Latin America, known and tracked by the US State Department as "foreign military sales."

2. Weapons ordered by the Mexican government, tracked by the State Department as "direct commercial sales."

3. Aging, but plentiful arsenals of military weapon stores in Honduras, Guatemala and Nicaragua.

Even though these facts were well-known by the Obama administration, including Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Attorney General Eric Holder, it blamed much of the violence in Mexico on US gun shops. "More than 90% of the guns recovered in Mexico come from the United States, many from gun shops that line our border," President Obama said in February 2009.

That was contested, but few listened to gun store owners and former vets like Lynn Kartchner, owner of Allsafe Security, a gun shop in Douglas, Ariz...(Excerpt) Read more at foxnews.com

Ever notice that in the movies that all a bad guy has to do is flash some cash and the gun dealer will take him in the back and sell him something from his “special” guns. In reality, if you went into a gun shop and asked about buying a machine gun and told him that it had to be TODAY, you would be wearing steel bracelets within an hour.

So how is Obama getting military ordnance into the hands of his “freedom fighter” drug cartels, who are using whitey to
get rich and destroy the USA and Mexico. Its only fair that exploited Mexican Minorities use mafia like tactics on a wider scale to get what is theirs , that which whitey took from them in exploitation! I mean they deserve to have the same pathways as the Italians did, and more!/SARC

Look no further than the now Panetta arrayed CIA. Petraeus should never have fallen to legitimize the Leon initiatives for the Mexican Drug Cartels used as Obama proxies to destabilize the government of Mexico, as well as the red states in the middle of our country.Hell, the cartels use federal lands in Arizona as their operating base , courtesy of the feds!

You can see here exactly what the toll is, unrevealed by the decrepit MSM.

I dunno the local Walmart had a buy one get one free sale on RPG-7Ds last week, but the ammo is very expensive. You're right about the grenades though. I usually get my genades at gun shows, and they had a real deal on VX about six months ago.

I would not care a thing about the RPG, C4 or Grenades but it would be neat to find six AK-47s just lying there.

I did once find a ten dollar bill in a mud puddle.

Bingo.

The feds want to float the story that the hardware was heading south. Most likely it is heading north.
You would think that AMERICAN law enforcement would be somewhat interested in military weapons coming into their own country. Where is it going? Who is it going to?
But, the feds have the attitude of if they ignore this, it will go away. By their misdirection, they are assisting the weapons mules. It’s one thing for them to turn a blind eye to illegals sneaking in, but this is just insane. They are putting their fellow law enforcement brothers in danger. For what?

You would think that on FR you would find posters who understood that the second amendment doesn't exclude "military weapons."

Where is it going? Who is it going to?

Price of freedom: It should not be "law enforcement's" business who owns what weapons. Only their business if someone commits a crime with them.

Unfortunately, all too many people have bought into the theory that the regulations of weapons is government's business and have thus given away a significant part of their freedom for absolutely no gain at all. With what result. The criminals have whatever they want, and the law abiding citizens can only get a limited list of weaponry.

Bud, I fully understand the 2nd ammendment and that law enforcement shouldn’t be in the business of who owns what weapons. But given the current situation you would think someone in law enforcement would be looking into why military weapons are being smuggled across our border. But that would require someone in dc to actually enforce our exising immigration laws and protect our borders. Those weapons are not going to law abiding citizens, they are most likely going to MS 13 or gulf cartel illegals here in our country.

Those weapons are not going to law abiding citizens;

That's the whole point. Law abiding citizens can't get them, and by restricting them, the government ensures that only the crooks have them.

Same as F&F. The arms are used in crime, are "discovered" and presto, "we need common sense gun laws" is fire-hosed all over the national news.

Never mind the inconvenient fact that the RPG's and explosives came from mexico. Communist agenda libs and lackeys will be screeching "gun show loophole" and "number one killer of children" to any TV crash-test dummy holding a live microphone.

Remember, Dodson at BATFEces was told, “In order to make omelettes, you have to break a few eggs.” That infected mentality extends throughout fed gov at all levels. It seems to be more prevalent the higher you go.
