Harry Reid Takes On the Great Issue of Our Day . . . Bike Paths! (Glumster Avoiding Jobs Bill?)
The Weekly Standard ^ | September 15, 2011 | Daniel Halper

Senate majority leader Harry Reid was in full form this morning, taking on the great issue of our day . . . bike paths!

Harry Reid: "Well, for most Americans, [bike paths] are absolutely important. It's good for purposes of allowing people to travel, um, without burning all the fossil fuel on the highways. I got up this morning really early, and went out and did my exercise. I'm not exaggerating--scores!--at least 30 or 40 bikes--so scores may be a slight exaggeration--of people, not just for exercise, traveling to work. Backpacks on--they are going to work. That's what bike paths are all about!"

Watch the VIDEO of Dingy Harry talking about this "momentous issue." Sounds like he is AVOIDING Obama's Jobs Bill. BTW, is it even a bill yet? Has it been put down in writing?

I’ve biked on roads and paths. Sometimes it’s nice to be protected from car traffic. But if cyclists had to pay per capita use taxes these things would never be built.

What percentage of the Birkenstockers on bike paths do you think are socialist rats? 80%? 90%? Let them pay for their own recreation. As for those sound barriers - dont buy a house next to an interstate. IDIOTS.

His end game would be to erect tax booths on the paths that he get’s built, complete with EZ Pass and Cash Only lanes. He should just go back to defending Cowboy Poetry.

I don’t think I’ve ever read a more inane group of sentences from any politician. “Scores! Scores, I tell you! There were Scores of bicycles. Well, maybe 30 - 40.”

Yeah, that’s the ticket to save the world.

And this from the leader of the world’s greatest deliberative body. What a joke.

Since I ride a bike, and a number of my friends also have bikes and ride them - I’ll have to disagree with your numbers. We are all conservative.

Most of us ride on regular roads for exercise - not to work - and it’s a matter of picking your routes.

There are just as many rude drivers as there are rude bikers. I’ve seen both plenty of times.

Reid should donate his cars to the Mormon Church.

I work thirthy miles away from my home. Out in the middle of nowhere. Would they build a bike path here? And supply me with a rocket booster so I could make it to work in a reasonable time?

Or are they just trying to force us all into ghettos where we have to live in each other’s laps?

I’m a biker too and there are more rude bikers than drivers. They think they’re saving the planet and cars are the enemy. Bikers are overwhelmingly liberal and fun to tweak.

Pray for America

I will only ride on a bike path that The Union Bike Path Builders of America have built...

I heard a clip of dingy hairy on the bill yesterday. He is just as stupid as 0 bummer and debbie blabermouth schultz. We have a number of bikers in Austin. The city has taken several four lane roads and turned the right lanes into bike lanes. Traffic is horrible in Austin anyway, but the bikers just had to have their own lanes.

The Austin PD is starting to crack down on bikers that run traffic lights, stop signs and other traffic laws. KLBJ ran a morning talk show segment about the PD giving bikers tickets and a number of them called in and bitched about getting ticketed. If they want the lanes, make them buy plates and insurance.

Two got arrested yesterday in a road rage incident. They were stupid enough to ram a pickup truck, got in front of the truck and started beating on it with their wheel locks. Did over $1500 damage by breaking the driver’s door window and plenty of dents. Both are still in Travis county jail. One of these days, they will be looking at a 9mm or .45 when they open the driver’s door. You can’t fix stupid.

Anything to distract from the real issue: Obama destroying America.

Nothing annoys a road biker more than someone on a mountain bike that keeps up with and then passes them. I have an old Bridgestone with big fat slicks just for that purpose. Otherwise, I hate riding on roads and bike paths.

Only one thing annoys most Oregon bikers more than that, a God Bless You as you pass. Most are Gaia cultists doing penance for global warming.

Pray for America

That butt hole is a frigging nut, I think he has old timers, bet he does not own a bike. Riding a bike requires balance, harry has none.

People buy a house close to the road so they can say my box is bigger than your box, but then so is his wife’s rear.

Should bike paths even be considered by the federal government? If this isn’t a local issue and out of the purview of the federal government, what the hell is?
