The last strike in LA was a shopper’s heaven. No lines, no traffic, in and out. And, I loved arguing to the strikers outside Vons or Pavillions when they would start yelling at me. “Don’t you care about families?” “Yes, but I care about mine more”. And so on and so on. IIRC, the checkers make like $15.00 to $17.00/hour. Nice job for no education and illegal status.
Trader Joe’s loves strikes as well, I’m sure. Non union and already popular, the stores will be even more crowded when a strike occurs.
Strikers are asking the public to help them raise the cost of doing business. Why in the world would I want my local supermarket to have to pay more for labor? Why would I want to put pressure on a store to raise prices? Sounds suicidal to me.
