U.S. essentially defenseless from stunning new weapon
EMP's may be stunning, but they're NOT new.

without the electronics deeply embedded in systems to provide food, goods, products, fuel and finances, the parts of the nation hit effectively could be returned to an agricultural age, with citizens depending on local production for food and fuel for heat and transportation.
Great. America becomes Afghanistan overnight.

An EMP attack would be suicidal to whomever launched it. I would nuke the living sh*t out of the country that initiated it.

I thought there was a relatively cheap $1.78 fix to protect the electrical grid from emps, but nobody was interested. The gizmo that cost $1.78 went on transformers, IIRC..
I know somebody else here will remember it.

The military procurement specs dropped EMP, RFI, and EMI protection from it's process of buying stuff. A 480volt motor for a deck elevator on an aircraft carrier costs about $14,000 with protection, but about $600 without.
This was done during the end of the Clinton era.

EMPs are hardly new. It would have been possible starting 20 years ago to have at least our infrastructure protected but they thought “why bother” we can just nuke anyone that does it blah blah blah. Except of course when an emp weapons is launched as a weather satellite and just sits in orbit until triggered. There is so munch junk up there we wouldn't be able to determine who did it.

None of our everyday consumer products are hardened against EMPs. So yeah, we are screwed if that kind of attack happens. I’m not sure if even the military is totally protected against it.
Just think Obama wants to basically disarm us by cutting the military, abandoning space and reducing our nuclear defense.
WTF people, he needs to go....sooner than later

Take your old electronics, computers, etc. and wrap them in several layers of aluminum foil alternating with a non-conductor (cardboard).
Best place to store them is in a metal trash can with a metal lid.
They will be quite valuable if there is an EMP or CME problem.

BTW, the Faraday Cage is easily seen in any coax, its the woven wire around the conductor.

Defenseless perhaps but can a nation also prevent an earthquake?
Just a counter response that does not mean there is any truth that HAARP exists or works.
Would Iran or Pakistan continue to bluster if they had 9.5 earthquakes?
