Made two of the Sturgis thingies. Was not impressed with paying 75 bucks to pitch a one man tent in a cow pasture for a couple days. Then to spend an hour in traffic to navigate across a one horse town.

I spent my time in Deadwood playing poker. Drunk macho bikers and greed can make for a profitable pastime.

***The day a motorcycle “forces” me off the road is the day I turn in my physics-knowledge card.***

About 20 years ago I had a teen on a motorcycle pass me. A few seconds later I was pumping his chest trying to keep him alive, as physics dictated that his motorcycle would not bump a 2500 lb auto, making a legal left turn, out of his way.

He lived but was brain damaged even though he had a helmet on.

Yep, in Alaska, cheechako drivers see a moose, slam on the brakes, nose of vehicle pitches down. Makes angle just right to run under the moose. Windshield gone, top of vehicle peeled back, passenger's remains mingled with a mess of eviscerated moose guts. One such viewing gives one considerable respect for said moose.

Maine has a moose population of about 29,000.

Ah ha, that explains Maine's 2008 presidential election results. LOL.

Some cyclists *will* be rude and do stupid things, but constant denigration of bikers & riding in general is just pillion....

I got caught in it today...it was utter lawlessness, and the police could do nothing about it. They were driving up the white lines between cars, forcing cars out of the way, and generally terrorizing everyone.

They were going to get a BIG surprise if they endangered my life.

It's the new economy.

Here comes money your way that will be spent in your neck of the woods and it's riding a Harley.

Nope. They knew exactly how to count. You had to see it to believe it.

The problem wasn’t with the individual bike, it was all the ones following with the gang mentality. A guy in a minivan behind me was mouthing off to one, and several stopped to back up their buddies.

If one had been hit, I could see 100 of them doing some major damage.

The car would win against one, but the driver would lose against the rest in a swarm. That’s what they were doing - terrorizing people.

The minivan guy needs to have an assistant lay down about 5 gallons of waste oil out the rear hatch at the next curved section of road. That would be a YouTube for the ages.

I understand they shut down I-70 at one point to try to control the situation, but everyone just blew around the police.

When I came to a stop because of the cars in front of me, they were blowing by up the white lines, weaving in and out of the lanes. We started to move again as the huge group was going west on I-64 in the three left lanes (hundreds of bikes), when all of the sudden they all decided to cut us all off and go north on I-270. They looked like an army of quick ants as far ahead and behind as you could see.

They didn’t care about anything but mayhem. The situation reinforced one of my core beliefs - we are responsible for our own protection. In the event of a mob like I saw today, the police couldn’t do a thing. Had violence broken out, we were on our own.

I could have handled 30 of them, but they would have gotten me in a bum’s rush while I was reloading.

Everyone should give the bikers a good distance between them and the cycle. Most of the time when there are more than 1, they are also polite and don’t take up all the lanes of the highway. If they take up all lanes cause they are soooo cute, they deserve no politeness...but I sure wouldn’t go yelling out the window at them...thats dumb. The worse I have ever done is give a truck driver the finger, but he did it first...just returning the signal...
