WHo is “a voter” who insists he knows what perry did in a private voting booth?

Carter was CRUSHED in Texas in the 1980 election. Why do you assume a conservative democrat from Texas had to support Carter, when it is clear that a large number of democrats in the south abandoned him, hence Reagan’s landslide victory.

Why would Perry go out of his way to say something like that? It’s his own word — it would only be accepted by people who already were inclined to trust him. Everybody else would assume he wasn’t telling the truth.

He let the information out. It was from 30 years ago, and there’s no evidence to the contrary.

He supported Gore in a primary, in an election which was going to pit the democrat against George Bush. At the time, Bush was hardly a sure thing for election. Trying to back the most conservative democrat in the primary was a smart thing to do. It’s not like conservatives think George Bush Sr. was a great president. He was no Ronald Reagan.

Read your own link man. The guy says Perry TOLD him that. I have no option of his veracity or the veracity of the Perry aide who says Perry voted for Reagan twice.

Normal rat voters voted for Reagan not large numbers of rat politicians. Perry's later support of Gore indicates he was a party loyalist (Gore was the choice of bigwig Texas rat bosses like the House Speaker Perry was sucking up too). Texas was an aberration voting so big for Reagan, most Southern states were closer.

Trying to back the most conservative democrat in the primary was a smart thing to do.

Maybe if the "most conservative" democrat was someone other than a hard left liberal who was 1 iota to the right of Dukakis. I actually think D*** Gephardt was (yet another iota) to Gore's right at the time. He was for Gore cause he a party loyalist looking to move up the food chain. I don't trust that this guy wouldn't still be a rat if he hadn't realized the rat party was doomed in Texas.

"Carter was CRUSHED in Texas in the 1980 election."

How about taking a close gander at Haskell County, Chuck ? Carter was not only NOT crushed in Perry's bailiwick, but he won there in 1980 by a wide margin of 57 to 42%, wider than Reagan's victory statewide. Even in 1984, Mondale performed quite well there, getting 46%, 10% higher than the rest of the state. When Perry was a Democrat State Representative by 1988, the very liberal Dukakis romped in Haskell County by a gargantuan 59-41% margin over George H.W. Bush. Clearly, somebody is lying about whom Perry supported in this district. Just like with Slick Willard, it appears he is attempting to have it both ways. Denying he supported Carter or Mondale, yet going with Gore, but by claiming it was OK, because he was a "Conservative", for which he was certainly not.

In all fairness to his royal Rickitude I’ve seen him quoted in an article saying his belief that Algore was a conservative democrat was mistaken (ACU ratings weren’t online obviously but I’m sure they were published) and that his experience with the Gore campaign is one things that led him to “wake up” and leave the rat party.

The Perrybots obviously never got that memo.
