I think private organizations should be allowed to discriminate if they are truly private and do not get government subsidies (including Pell grants, guaranteed student loans, and research grants in the case of universities). If they are getting government money, they should not discriminate on the basis of race.

The survey also discusses the prevalence of other preferences, such as those for athletes and the children alumni.
