On “World Car-Free Day,” Let’s Be Guilt-Free for a Change

On Thursday, September 22, environmentalists want you to feel guilty about driving cars. In other words, it’s annual “World Car-Free Day.”

Instead of celebrating the many ways that the automobile has liberated and improved the lives of ordinary people, environmentalists want to suggest that rejecting the car for a day is somehow virtuous. The governor of Massachusetts is going even further by advocating a car-free week – notwithstanding the governor’s real-world choice to drive around in an SUV this week.

I have a V8 in my huge 4x4 truck and also in my Jeep. I’ll take turns driving them.

“Well, how convenient!
I need to make a long trip tomorrow, driving my 1978 pre-computer 350 V8 El Camino.

If anyone in my state is dumb enough to participate in this stupidity I will enjoy the reduction in traffic to drive faster and burn MORE fuel!

I think I will take the longer scenic route.”

I hear that, I LOVE burning fuel riding my Shovelhead stroker chop!

Think I’ll go for a drive, traffic ought to be lighter.

Man, I didn’t even know about this. I’ll have to find some liberals to drive my truck past tomorrow.

So are Pious drivers excepted? After all, they are sooooo green with their little electric Matchboxes.

Think I’ll take the scenic route home from work. Shouldn’t be any traffic!

let’s have an anti Birkenstock day to beautify the world. Let’s make it illegal to wear socks and sandals to further beautify the world.

I'd vote for that. I'd also vote for the "hippies/liberals wash their hair day" or "hippies/liberals use deodorant day".

I'm an avid environmentalist, but it makes no sense to abolish technology, including automobiles, instead we should be looking for better, cleaner ways to make 'em go, and many, many environmentalists are engaged in doing just that.

Next they'll want us to avoid flying our planes and that's against my religion!

I could go for a free car.

Looks like tomorrow might be an excellent day to run down to the local used car lot and test drive everything on it.

I never use fuel frivolously, so I can't use any of those days...

(NB: annoying liberals is never frivolous; it's essential to the continuation of life as we know it.)

Sorry to hear about your foot. Didja drop a tree on it or sump'n?

Mine is a convertable.

My WIFE converted it to her car ...

Still, she looks good in it.

If she ever cuts her hair, I get it back.

LOL! Thank you! I’m getting around pretty well with crutches or a walker, but I will admit that first night home alone I couldn’t sleep thinking, “How the H3LL am I going to do the 900 things I have to do each day to keep this place running?”

Well, I can do about 850 of them, and I’m relying on others for the other 50, which has been an EXCELLENT lesson for me to learn, stubborn jack@ss that I can be... :)

On World Car Free day, I think all cars owned by progressives and eco-freaks should be appropriated as they are not needed by these elites. Each should be given a skateboard as restitution for their cars.

The best way to support World Car-Free Day is to drive a truck while reciting the Kurt Vonnegut pray* aloud.
