Regulation Nation: EPA Chief Rejects GOP Charges She’s Imposing Job-Killing Rules

Across an often contentious three-hour congressional hearing Thursday, Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa Jackson vigorously defended her agency’s policies promoting cleaner air and water, and rejected suggestions by Republican lawmakers that the EPA is a chief factor in the country’s stagnant economic recovery.

“The American people have a right to know whether the air they breathe is healthy or unhealthy,” Jackson said during her appearance before a subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

Time and again, she dismissed the notion that stubbornly high unemployment should prompt policymakers to roll back robust environmental protections.

“It is analogous to a doctor not giving a diagnosis to a patient because the patient might not be able to afford the treatment,” she said.

GOP members cast Jackson as an über-regulator, oblivious to the economic hardship her policies have created in their home districts. “We have focused on cracking down on the private sector, on the job generators,” lamented Rep. Brian Bilbray, R-Calif.

Close the doors on this loudmouth! All states have an EPA and don't need this crap from a centralized federal government.

Maybe this loudmouth should read the Constitution to see if anywhere in there are any of her regulations mentioned. Close the EPA . . . it's served its purpose decades ago and should be closed.

“It is analogous to a doctor not giving a diagnosis to a patient because the patient might not be able to afford the treatment,” she said.

Actually, it's more analagous to a doctor taking the leeches off a patient who's already bleeding to death.

EPA Chief Rejects GOP Charges She’s Imposing Job-Killing Rules

Wasn't there a guy in Georgia last night that was still claiming he didn't kill a cop?

Actually, I'm sure she believes that jobs in the private sector don't count, ergo, she's not killing them.

I’ve no proof, no links, just a memory of the sixties, the period of time the Lefties were setting the precedences that we are attached to today.

I recall discussion, and articles of the day about how a Leftist with a BA, or some other collegiate designation would espouse some environmental philosophy, and other Lefties would hoorah, and rave about his genius, and his hypothesis, and the press would pick it up, and as we know today it soon became a fact, rather than a theory. From that dubious, fabricated foundation the Left built an environmental empire.

We need to go back, and look at the foundation of the environmental movement, and examine it thoroughly for the cracks we know we are going to find.

Just now listening to today’s hearings only to find out that Ms. Jackson’s group employs 18,000 government employees. How the hell did this come about. It’s like a cancer that you discover in later stages!
