The illegal immigration debate has become an urgent focal point of American politics. Liberal politicians from the White House on down have vigorously advocated for illegal immigrant amnesty and lax border enforcement in a naked attempt to bolster prospective voter rolls.[1]
This controversy has been brewing for some time in Maryland, whose Hispanic population more than doubled between 2000 and 2010.[2] Under Governor Martin O’Malley’s sanctuary policies the state has become an illegal alien magnet.[3] The current cost of illegals in Maryland is estimated to be $1.7 billion per year, more than three-quarters of the state’s $2 billion structural deficit.[4]
Taxpayer ire overflowed this March with the passage of Maryland’s Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act, granting in-state college tuition rates to illegals. A nonpartisan coalition of concerned Marylanders launched a petition drive to delay the measure and place it on the 2012 ballot as a referendum. They needed 55,736 signatures. They received twice that amount.

Topsy Turvy, I’d say that the WH will give free passports to all perpetrators of crime, who came to the USA with false ID, entered illegally, abandoning families, some leaving behind uncollected debts, families and court orders NOT to leave the country. The WH will snub it’s nose at the educated, proper citizens of Mexico who paid $110 USD to get a visa, 2/3rds of them were denied, they proved their date of birth, their proper surnames, a verifiable address...THESE poor suckers will get the SHAFT. What a perverion of JUSTICE.
Lawmakers should always remember that they should REWARD this devious behaviour. This will in the future encourage others to jump fences, dig tunnels and get into the USA and hunker down until MORE amnesty is given. Simpson Rodino didn’t stop it in 1985..and this will be good. It will drive home a message to Mexicans, and Central Americans, and Asians, that America rewards the BRAVE hearts that defy the US Embassy rules of gaining a proper visa, and just lie, cheat, and use stolen ID. Hey. For what it’s worth, there are millions more waiting to come without a visa. Just legalize these and we’ll send their grandparents, their wives and their children. Be Brave, be strong. Stand with the ones who came into your country illegally.
Democrats have controlled MD since the 70’s. If the state wasn’t next to DC and all the Fed jobs, it would have been broke years ago.
