There was a point in time when we pretty much didn't care. These were nice people, they did not take government services. They were hard working and the best of them became citizens after the Reagan amnesty and proudly built wonderful small businesses that enhanced the community.
Something changed in the 1990's. Sanctuary cities, motor voter... Federal mandates to the States to support illegals... healthcare, WIC, foodstamps...education (no child left behind). Our communities were flooded with illegals.
Loosening of banking and loan requirements allowed them to buy homes with no credit???? Vehicles also!
WTH!
Go to the grocery store and watch as a 18 y.o. pregnant woman argues in Spanish with the Stater Brothers market manager to get her entire WIC allotment while three burly men twice her age are threatening in the background...(personally witnessed... the store manager capitulated and let them have the entire month allotment).
Totally screwed up... started in the Clinton years and exacerbated under Bush, because the GOP FEARED the consequences of the Latino vote. It all comes down to politics for these folks.

What "changed" in the 90s is the result of Reagan's amnesty became noticeable.
These were nice people, they did not take government services.
Yes they were taking government services. The Plyler v Doe Supreme Court Case decided in favor of illegals was in 1982.
