HOUSTON -- Local 2 investigates what lawmakers said is a threat to hundreds of millions of dollars in fruits, vegetables and beef produced along the Texas border.

Dressed in camouflaged fatigues with a pistol at his side Dr. Mike Vickers drives across a 1,000 acre ranch he says has become a battleground

"We know every time we walk out our front door, or back door, we're putting our lives in danger," said Vickers.

"You feel you have to carry a gun just to be on your own property?" asked Local 2 investigator Robert Arnold.

"Well, you're putting your life in danger if you don't," said Vickers.

"The attacks are not only happening in the rural parts of the border.

"The shots ricocheted off this wall," said Othal Brand, president and general manager of Hidalgo County Water Improvement District No. 3. "Hit within 18 inches of each man."

Brand said water district employees were fired on while working to repair an intake line at the pumping station on the Rio Grande River. Brand said the shots came from Mexico's side of the border.

"They wanted to bring something across, and they didn't want anybody around," Brand said. "We haven't seen this since the days of Pancho Villa."

The day after the attack, Brand gave his workers permission to carry guns."

Yeah a fence will help. Where are you going to put it?

Down the middle of the Rio Grande. It's well past time to DEMAND that the Federal Gov do it's job. But was said, if the Feds ADMIT there is a problem on the border, then they will have to do something about it.

This administration is INTENTIONALLY endangering American Lives.

Do you remember the Secure Fence Act of 2006?

At some point, those that advocate for an enforcement only approach to illegal immigration need to quantify how much border enforcement and at what cost it will take.

And how much more are we going to have to spend on interior enforcement and workplace enforcement.

I rember the Secure Fence Act of 2006, we got a fence here, not the fence promised, but a pretty good fence, and lots more Border Patrol. It waS enough to force the problem to Eastern Arizona, and Texas, where they don’t have much fence.

In the debates, Rick Perry says he has secured the border with Texas Rangers. So obviously this must not be happening. Don’t believe your lying eyes. Those incursions by the Mexican army or police are just Texas A&M revelers winding down their delayed spring vacation. /s/

A lot cheaper than keeping Troops in Afganistan and Iraq.

Please explain where you would put this fence. Since the Rio Grand is the border, where EXACTLY will this fence go. On the Mexican side. Not likely, oh well lets just turn over the Rio Grand to Mx. I don’t think so. Jingoistic bumper sticker policy sounds good but it is unrealistic and a waste of time.

He did not. The fact is since the Feds REFUSE to step up to the plate in securing the border, someone has to do it.

Perry has the DPS (Rangers) and he is using their skills and resources to try to keep the enemy at bay. Your blaming the wrong person.

but I’m sure the Dummies and Zero appreciate the diversion from their irresponsible behavour.
