At Thursday night's Republican presidential debate in Orlando, Gov. Rick Perry of Texas engaged in vigorous debate with his GOP rivals over immigration and defended his record and views on border security. During the exchange, he specifically mentioned his support for Arizona's controversial immigration law, which drew national attention.

If they were to have an Obama Truth Squad it’d need to be its own channel, on 24/7, no repeats.

Thye’d have to start additional stations to handle it all, ala ESPN 8- The “Ocho!”

Obama Truth Squad Channel 59-”One for Every State!”

That’s what a politician does: say you support AZ’s 10th Amendment right to pass its own law, and explain why it wouldn’t work in TX, or could not get passed by TX legislators. RINO or not, Perry’s statements pale in comparison to what Zero and Holder are trying to do with the Constitution (i.e. using it as a toilet tissue).

Perry had said earlier if I recall correctly that the Arizona law wasn’t right for Texas and he opposed such a law in Texas.

I guess the game he’s playing is to say I support the law because Arizona passed it and has a right to do so as a soverign state.

But the fact remains Perry did not support such a law in Texas.

Rick Perry’s support for in state tuition of illegal immigrant’s children is supporting the notion that their parents live here permanently and should have their status normalized. (comprehensive immigration reform anyone??)

Just want to say thank you to all of the people out front who suggested for Perry to get in the race to showcase conservatism. What were you thinking??!!! It seems like the GOP planned this for Romney. Thank goodness, it’s still early. At this juncture, I support Cain and Newt.

Perry says we are heartless for not wanting to let illegal alien kids get a college education (never mind the fact they cant work here).

So I guess illegal alien kids to deserve to have it.

What did we do to deserve to pay for it?

Rick Perry was against the Arizona law before he was for the Arizona law. Now, he’ll get back to calling Mitt Romney a flip-flopper.

Didn’t he say he opposed portions of it and that what was right for AZ wasn’t right for Texas and that AZ’s law was not right for Texas.

Exactly. He supports their right to choose to have that law, but he wouldn’t have that law. By saying he supports them it sounds like he agrees with them, when he really doesn’t. deceptive and he might fool a couple of people.

OK ONE MORE TIME.

Perry believes and has been on a campaign to get the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT to enforce the LAWS and protect our borders.

Arizona brought the issue to the forefront. But we all know that indiviual States would spend all their time in Court defending Lawsuits from illegals and their enablers in the U.S. (namely the dummie Party)

The point of the Arizona Law is that if the Feds won’t do the job we will. West Texas is not called the BIG EMPTY for no reason. An Arizona style Law is not fesible for Texas.
But, AG Abbott joined the Lawsuit to support Ariz demand that the Feds enforce the LAW.

Texas is just wierd when it comes to thier beloved illegals. Thier borders to the south mean NOTHING to them.

Ricardo Pherry is simply a liar when he IMPLIES (NEVER ACTUALLY STATES)that he might apply state law where the Feds refuse to apply theirs.

PS—as the Gov, he could simply place the Guard on the border THIS MORNING. DON’T EVEN GET ME STARTED on Ricardo’s love/tolerance/respect for the Muzzies and their Sharia Law.

Children who are not citizens of the USA should have to get finacing from their native country ex. Mexico. No burden on the USA/State citizens. This goes for all children. Set up a cost per student, USA citizens get payment from USA/State funds, non citizens pay by parents or their native government.

Actually, one of the parts of the Arizona law that Perry was referring to that would not work for Texas was CHANGED by the Arizona Legislature in May of 2010.

http://articles.latimes.com/2010/may/01/nation/la-na-arizona-immigration-20100501

May 1, 2010

Lawmakers on Thursday night changed the language to require scrutiny only of people who police stop, detain or arrest.

They also changed a section of the bill that barred officers from “solely” using race as grounds for suspecting someone is in the country illegally; opponents had argued that that would allow race to be a factor. The legislators removed the word “solely” to bar race from being used by officers enforcing the law.

And according to Congressman Poe:

http://www.texasgopvote.com/fix-immigration/governor-perry-border-drug-cartels-arizona-immigration-law-and-cotton-bowl-results-002288

“Then I questioned him on his campaign statement that the Arizona Immigration Law is not right for Texas. I told him that with the upcoming legislative session a similar bill was certainly a possibility.”

His reply was that the Arizona Immigration Law was not suited to Texas because,

“Arizona is a very different place than Texas. We have a totally different set of circumstances.” He continued to say that he had some hesitation because there were a number of things in the Arizona law that

“I certainly supported but there was one aspect that I did not think was particularly healthy for Texas because it allowed for lawsuits to be filed against our law enforcement.”

He supported his stance due to the many frivolous lawsuits that he has seen filed in Texas and he did not want to give the personal injury trial lawyers another cause of action.

“So to answer your question, just let Texans and their elected officials come up with the law that is right for Texas and I suspect I will put my signature on a good piece of legislation that we had plenty of time to discuss and debate appropriately.”

The Federal Government will not secure the border.
When States like Texas and Arizona try to do the Fed Gov job for them as best they can using those states taxpayer dollars, the Fed Gov steps in and sues them.

Texas Legislature recently voted to require proof of citizenship in obtaining DL and a Fed Court has put it on hold.

The border states also have to use state resources to imprison the illegals at state taxpayer costs (even ones from more northern states because the Feds bring them to the border states) and then the Federal Government will not deport them.

When illegals are arrested in Texas, the Federal Courts are dismissing the cases and putting the illegals back on the streets.

Perry is getting hammered on illegal immigration even though it is not his job as governor to secure the border but is the Federal Gov’s job to do so.

As Governor of Texas, he can only do so much.

But if President, he could do a lot.

He is getting hammered on the in-state tuition yet
there are at least 9 other states that have it as well as several states with in-state tuition bills pending.

The aggravation for me is that people are upset because he put in an executive order for the vaccine with an opt out (which was overturned by the legislature and never went into effect).

They say he should have gone through the Legislative Process and he now agrees he should have.

BUT

They are upset that an in-state tuition for children of illegals went through the legislative process overwhelmingly and he did nothing about it.

What was he suppose to do? He cannot override the legislature in this case. Maybe they think he could have written an executive order overriding the legislature making in-state tuition invalid?
