Arizona Congressman Paul Gosar and Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu will reportedly appear Monday evening in Tucson at a public meeting to discuss Operation Fast and Furious, the botched Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives gun trafficking scheme that has been linked to some 200 slayings in Mexico and the death of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry.
The gathering, at Canyon Del Oro High School, runs from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Landis Aden with the Arizona State Rifle and Pistol Association, tipped this column about the gathering, but it is not an ASRPA function.
This announcement comes one day after former Phoenix ATF Special Agent in Charge (SAC) William Newell sent a 12-page supplemental statement to Congressman Darrell Issas House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform that follows up on Newells poor performance before the committee in July. This column discussed Newells testimony, which so angered Issa that he referred to the now-replaced SAC as a paid non-answerer. Even ranking Democrat Elijah Cummings told Newell at the time, Your testimony has been very frustrating to both sides. This column discussed that conversation. Fox News also reported about the Newell "supplement" here.
Newells supplemental statement starts off looking for a little sympathy:
It was not my intention to give answers that lacked the clarity everyone on the panel deserved from a federal law enforcement agent in my position. It is not an excuse but a reality that the pressure I have been under over the last several months has been nothing like I have ever experienced; this inquiry and the way it has been handled has take a physical toll on my family, me and the dedicated men and women who continue to pursue the goals of this investigation.William Newell

It was not a “botched” operation!!!!!
The Seattle Gun Rights Examiner should know better than to call it this!
The operation worked exactly as it was planned, except for the death of Agent Terry.....if only civilians were murdered with these weapons there would be far less attention to this story.
