Perry’s collapse makes way for Christie and others?
WAPO ^ | 09/23/11 | Jennifer Rubin

Yesterday I wrote a vignette in jest suggesting what New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie might be yelling at his TV during the GOP debate. Unlike his alter-ego in my vignette, the real Bill Kristol did not call Christie to plead nor drive over to his house to urge him to get into the race. Instead he used his Web site , figuratively speaking, to run over Texas Gov. Rick Perry with an 18-wheeler and drive through Christie’s living room window:

With nine candidates on the stage, and answers restricted to one minute, it’s hard to really show your stuff. And two of the candidate — Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney — did provide respectable performances. But no front-runner in a presidential field has ever, we imagine, had as weak a showing as Rick Perry. It was close to a disqualifying two hours for him. Bill’s solution: “A big man for a big job.” And you know who that is.

I think the operative words here are “Perry’s collapse.” It would take a real die-hard partisan not to see his (non)performance for what it was: a looming disaster.

Chris Christie is ANTI-Second Amendment, pro-illegal alien and pro-Muslim.

Otherwise he would make a GREAT candidate (sarcasm).

If Perry's purpose was to make Romney look good, it's "mission accomplished". Now all us good little conservatives will get our "asses in line" and support the establishment GOP candidate like we've been told.

Perry did not collapse. He was awful last night but he is still the most viable conservative candidate we have. palin CAN NOT win. Period.

Christie appears to be a fine governor and he needs to stay that way.

Palin will get in at the end of the moose hunting season. We still have a few more weeks to go.

Don’t worry, the bluebloods still have plenty of time to put Christie, or Jeb, or somebody else up to it before filing deadlines.

I predict at least two big names more jump in before the November filing deadlines.

Perry is no conservative. He is a professional politician who blows with the wind.

Ithink it is time to get rid of all the Wannabees and just have debates with Romney and Perry. These forumns with 8 and 9 candidates are useless.

i don’t know- i was never a huge Perry supporter though his job creation and especially tort reform, speak for themselves...

it seems like the GOP is once against try to grab defeat from the jaws of victory....i live in liberalsville, NY- two miles from the clinton’s...my gym is full of uber leftists....they are resigned to the fact obama has no chance at re-election based on his piss-poor performance...

the comment made to me this morning by an uber liberal, who supported obama head and shoulders, was, “whoever the next president is, he’ll have to take up deficit reduction, and it looks like Romney”...

not saying i agree with him but i think the mindset of the libs right now is they realize its not going to be obama and hope it will be romney...

Exactly. Just when do we pick our candidates on how well they do in a debate. Let’s look at their records instead. Romney, in my book, is worse than Perry - regardless, of who did or didn’t win a stupid debate.
