Senators Stick by 2009 Stimulus (Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe)

Senate GOP leaders may be trying to cast the president’s latest jobs proposal as another “failed” stimulus measure, but not all Senate Republicans agree that the 2009 government spending spree was such a political disaster.

Maine Sens. Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe are sticking by their votes in favor of the original Obama stimulus from two years ago, and both Republicans said last week that the law created jobs, though it could have been more effective.

“I don’t think [the stimulus] failed. Virtually every study I have seen has given the stimulus credit for the creation of between 1.3 million and 5 million jobs,” Collins said.

“I think people forget that more than a third of the stimulus was spent on tax relief,” she continued. “I have always wondered why that has gotten lost in the debate.”

“Nevertheless, I believe the stimulus would have been far more effective if the money had gone for infrastructure, and that is what I advocated,” Collins said.

Snowe also said the 2009 stimulus had merit in preventing the economy from collapsing and created jobs in some areas of the economy but not in others.

“Nobody in 2009 was arguing against a stimulus,” she said.

As Snowe sees it, the stimulus was supposed to give the private sector a breather from the economic downturn.

But it didn’t exactly work out that way. She blamed big-government solutions to issues, such as the president’s push for a health care reform law, for impeding private-sector rejuvenation.

She added that the administration and Congress didn’t pursue the issues that would have been important for reinvigorating the economic environment to be conducive for capital investments, hiring more people and creating the overall conditions for economic growth.

The Congress critters claim that they can spend money more effectively than the people can. That is why they exist. Yet:

I don’t think [the stimulus] failed. Virtually every study I have seen has given the stimulus credit for the creation of between 1.3 million and 5 million jobs,” Collins said.

But, they can't even tell you how many jobs they "created". When I buy a dozen eggs, I not only know how many eggs I bought, and for what price, but I can even tell you were I spent the money.

But Congress CANT. This is ignoring the FACT that the number of jobs sharply dropped right after they spent the money because they hammered the economy stealing a trillion dollars to buy pork. They did NOT create jobs, they interfered with the market and blew million of jobs out the door.

But even playing along with that game, as if I was so stupid that I did not notice the employment rate GO DOWN when they spent the money, I could perhaps ignore reality, and fact and just do something really simple, grade school even and divide a trillion by a couple of million and come up with the price of the "jobs" they may or may not have created. That's a half a MILLION bucks for each burger flipper job they cant find that they "stimulated"

Some how that leave me unstimulated. Then do not actually pay for any job they "created". They just spent money on things and hoped somebody else created a job and paid for it so that they can claim it.

Now I do hate the Marxist Socialist takeover of our Government, and I do hate the ridiculous extend the vote so Acorn can use the fake registration schemes, and I do hate the Racism enforced by Justice Department; But you know what I hate the most?

Is being treated, daily, like my IQ is smaller than my shoe size by people who get elected to office. I mean, for a hundred grand a year salary, they should actually try to come up with a plausible lie, instead of rubbing my nose in their S#!t every day as they tell me I am heartless if I don't agree that they should steal another generations money so they can play golf and wear diamonds and jet home every week in an empty 747. They should actually spend 10 minutes a day reading their own speachs and see if a half wit could possibley buy it. But then, for people that are too busy doing nothing to actually READ a BILL before they VOTE on it... I guess it is too much to ask.

I am not amused that I am seeing my nation stolen by fools who think I am too stupid to see their graft as they say lies more outlandish than a 3 year old caught with their hand in the cookie jar.

It didn’t that is the problem and the bigger problem is she believes it. These women are in denial.

Yes they act as though we are stupid. They want us to take the fact that they did ‘something’ which is the same thing they always do in the face of a crisis which is spend money we don’t have and create law we don’t need.

Virtually every study I have seen has given the stimulus credit for the creation of between 1.3 million and 5 million jobs,” Collins said.

Give or take 3.7 million is such a trivial "margin of error" for job numbers.

And Susan, consider the source of those numbers.

Additional Clue: That yellow water on your leg that Obama says is rain, it ain't.

Glad to hear it.

Hope you have a great fall. Hopefully conservatives can have a lot of reasons to brag in 2012-2013.

They’ll be disappointed someday about it.

They’ll be educated on the whole failed stimulus some day.
