Shutdown For What?

Budget: If Senate Democrats hope to pin a government shutdown on Republicans, they've picked a pretty lousy hostage — a Bush-era "green" program that's benefiting two boutique, luxury-car makers.

On Friday, the House narrowly approved a stop-gap funding measure that would provide disaster relief and keep the government running after Sept. 30, when the 2011 fiscal year officially ends. Since Congress has so far failed to pass a 2012 budget, the government will shut down Oct. 1 without the six-week spending bill.

Keep in mind that the only reason we're in this fix is because Senate Democrats never bothered to pass a budget — a duty they've managed to neglect for more than two years. The House passed its 2012 budget plan back in April.

Nevertheless, sensing an opportunity to pin a government shutdown on the GOP, Senate Democrats voted down the spending bill. But the only reason they could find for doing so is a provision that would cut $1.5 billion from a Department of Energy loan program.

Apparently, Majority Leader Harry Reid and company never bothered to look closely at the program they plan to use as hostage in these negotiations

(yawn) Shut the government down. Who cares?
The only people who will notice are the bums, deadbeats, and parasites who make up the Democrat party base.

The Republican House has already submitted a budget. Reid has yet to submit the 2011 budget which he was supposed to have done by September 2010.

0-bama either does not know to propose one, or he it to lazy. Remember when he left it up to his congress to come up with the health care bill? And now he doing the same thing with the so-called super committee.

Actually at this point the Budget or lack thereof is irrelevant. What matter is the appropriations bills. The house has passed (almost?) all of them, and the Senate has not even held committee hearings on most of them. No appropriations bills signed into law, no spending.
