“electric stun pen”

Now you have to worry if you see one with a pen.

He needs to be defenestrated. Perhaps, “inshallah”, Allah will make him fly!

“electric stun pen”

As opposed to a non-electric stun pen?

didn’t even know this stuff was illegal. so i guess we can’t pack and pack at the same time aye? kinda sucks to be this guy. i actually feel bad for him as he packed them for later personal use. I could care less about his nationality and much more that we can’t travel with safely packed weapons. he didn’t have access to them and we was flying to SA not here.

This guy is an idiot or a probe, but Truth is you could do lots of damage with a plain old BIC pen or a bottle of water in a gym sock.

Arm the crew and passengers. Eff the TSA

Silly.

These items were in his checked bag.

A bomb in a checked bag is a threat to the safety of the plane and passengers. A stun gun, not so much.

Even a stun gun in a carryon is not really much of a threat. Does anyone seriously contend a plane could be hijacked with a stun gun? The passengers would just kick his ass if he tried it.

OMG!

I missed that it was CHECKED baggage!

This is beyond ridiculous.

Greetings Sherman Logan:

Pretty unlikely any individual successfully hijacks an aircraft again. What I found interesting: Saudi subject bringing a stun gun home from the USA. What might have happened to him if weapon was discovered after the aircraft lands in Riyad?

Cheers,
OLA

May the Lord bless the TSA for keeping us safe from passengers such as this. It makes all those shoe swapping, laptop powerups, and TSA feelups, oh so worth it. I feel sooo safe now.

Do I need the /sarc tag?

Pepper spray? I guess my wife was lucky the last time she went to Russia to visit her sister about 6 months ago. She packed a pepper spray for her sister to carry. My wife (and her pepper spray) went through with no problems. I didn’t know any of the stuff this guy had was illegal to transport in checked luggage.

I’m wondering if he was trying to smuggle these items back into the KSA. I don’t know what the status is on non-lethal weapons possession in the KSA; I do know that in some place, stun gun possession is illegal except for LEO’s.

If he didn’t declare (which you need to with checked luggage), maybe he was trying to smuggle them into the KSA.....you know, a little black-market money making. My ex-wife used to smuggle Levi’s 501 jeans from the USA and Canada into the Czech Republic all the time; she would sell them for a small fortune in the Czech Republic. From time to time, she’d smuggle cigarettes and tobacco too. She was a flight attendant.

Nonetheless, this was in checked baggage; it’s not like he would have access to them during the flight, so really not a major security risk.

It was a checked bag, not a carry-on. I assume the weaponry was meant for use back in Saudi Arabia - in the best case, for self defense and in the worst case, for use on some hapless domestic servant from the Phillipines or Bangladesh.

Arm the crew and passengers

Long ago I said to issue everyone getting on board a razor sharp K-Bar. Anyone who tries to take the plane will be mincemeat by the time it lands. Sure, some innocents will get cut, but we are no longer under any illusions about what follows a takeover.
