After proclaiming his written words unwavering and unchanged, Romney wavers

Admits “changes in the climate” caused changes to claim that Romneycare should be model for nation

With great confidence and smooth delivery during last night’s debate, Mitt Romney denied changing the text of his book, No Apology, saying, “One reason to elect me is that I know what I stand for. I’ve written it down. Words have meaning.” [1]

Hours after the debate, Romney retreated from his written words, admitting the paperback edition of No Apology was scrubbed to remove the Romneycare reference: “We can accomplish the same thing for everyone in the country.” [2]

This morning on Fox News, Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul attributed Romney’s fluctuating positions to “changes in the climate.” “Updates of course are going to be made to reflect changes in the climate,” Saul said. “Those changes were reflected in the book.” [3]

“Mr. Romney talks a good game, but just can’t shoot straight about Romneycare being the father of Obamacare,” said Perry spokesman Ray Sullivan. “Time and again he changes positions and policies to suit his political needs. Mr. Romney promised no retreat from his book. Now his campaign admits he changes his positions to match changes in the political climate, such as denying Romneycare should be a national model now that Obamacare is a job-killing disaster.”

Mr. Romney said during last night’s debate: “Please don’t try and make me retreat from the words that I wrote in my book. I stand by what I wrote. I believe in what I did. And I believe that the people of this country can read my book and see exactly what it is.” [4]

Like most ordinary folks, Rick Perry isn't a debater for sure, but he did score points and got in a few zingers.

Romney is a weasel and a master of double-speak. Not in Clintonian territory but still pretty good.

Romney in June: ““I don’t speak for the scientific community, of course, but I believe the world’s getting warmer. I can’t prove that, but I believe based on what I read that the world is getting warmer. And number two, I believe that humans contribute to that. I don’t know how much our contribution is to that, because I know that there have been periods of greater heat and warmth in the past but I believe we contribute to that. And so I think it’s important for us to reduce our emissions of pollutants and greenhouse gases that may well be significant contributors to the climate change and the global warming that you’re seeing”

Romney now: “Do I think the world’s getting hotter? Yeah, I don’t know that but I think that it is. I don’t know if it’s mostly caused by humans. What I’m not willing to do is spend trillions of dollars on something I don’t know the answer to. I do not believe in cap and trade and I do not believe in putting a carbon cap on polluting industries.“

He can’t be trusted.

Perry, Mitt and Newt should get lost. Take Hunstman and Federal Reserve Cain with them.

No way I would vote for anyone who worked at the Fed. The founders warned us about the evils of The Fed.

Yeah, me too. What an Ahole this guy is. I wouldn’t vote for him for dogcatcher. Well, maybe dogcatcher.

Heck with Perry or Romney. This is the primary. Vote your HEART. Those of us without hearts, (thank you Mr. Perry) will just have to fake it and vote CONSERVATIVE!

I am voting for Cain. This is the primary we are talking about. The general is a different story and I’ll burn that bridge when I come to it.

Not that conservatives would vote for Mitt Romney anyway but this kind of doublespeak garbage from him is verification that Romney is just another phony politician that has no core convictions, just ego and ambition. He must be defeated or we're never going to get out of the mess we're in, thanks to Obama. After the last debate, I'm pretty sure that a candidate (Rick Perry) using emotional justifications for cheating the taxpayers of his state by subsidizing state college tuition for the children of illegal immigrants is not the guy to be the 2012 Republican presidential nominee. I still support Sarah Palin but if she declines to run, I'm now looking at Michele Bachmann. She has her problems but is not 'soft' on immigration, global warming voodoo or the need to repeal Obamacare.

Like most ordinary folks, Rick Perry isn't a debater for sure...

The Founders did not intend the Office of the Presidency to be the haunt of ordinary folk.

I have no problem with that. Vote for the candidate that you think can best represent you. I hope that we get a nominee that can beat Obama, otherwise it will all be an exercise in futility.

A vote for a RINO is a vote for Obama.

NO RINO political cross-dressers.
