Shock : Herman Cain wins GOP Florida straw poll
The Washington Times ^ | SEPTEMBER 23, 2011 | Seth McLaughlin

ORLANDO — Former Godfather Pizza CEO Herman Cain won the Presidency 5 straw poll here Saturday, delivering a blow to Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s frontrunner status and a victory for a candidate who has struggled to transform his grassroots popularity into strong showings in national polls.

“Tonight’s winner is Herman Cain,” Florida Gov. Rick Scott announced. “It shows you something, the road to the White House come through Florida, and it pays to spend time here.”

He received 37 percent of the more than 2,600 votes cast.

“Thank you to the Republican voters for this incredible honor of being named the winner of the Presidency 5 straw poll in Florida today,” Mr. Cain said. “This is a sign of our growing momentum and my candidacy that cannot be ignored. I will continue to share my message of ‘common-sense solutions’ across this country and look forward to spending more time in Florida, a critical state for both the nomination and the general election.”

The two national frontrunners — Mr. Perry and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney — placed second and third. Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, meanwhile, landed in fourth place; Rep. Ron Paul of Texas landed in fifth place; and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, sixth. Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann finished last. (See the poll results here.)

Herman at the top of the GOP ticket would shock the shiite of the RATs and their Communist inspired demagoguery. No Uncle Tom narratives would work against this man, he’s the real FN thing who’d steal the minority votes from the petty stalinists. He is the Reagan of this age, I ain’t kidding.

We can dream.

I heard Herman Cain say at a speech quite awhile back that he was going for President and NOT second.

That’s the ticket we have been talking about in our household. A senior Gentleman of dignity and a junior gentleman of dignity who both love this country.

Here we have a former Federal Reserve chairman who wants to add a national sales tax on top of the income tax, and thinks it can’t possibly go wrong.

That is the one thing that scares me about his plan. The 9-9-9 rates would have to be written into a constitutional amendment....

“Nomination Is a Two-Person Race
By Tom Blumer | September 24, 2011
snip

..gives away the reporters’ preconceived notion that the race for the GOP nomination is a two-person, Perry-Romney contest. Cain’s victory, regardless of what one might think of his final prospects, demonstrates that it isn’t. I daresay this does not please the AP and a large swath of the establishment press, which wants us to believe that only Perry and Romney matter.
snip

A drop-dead obvious example of that predisposition, assisted by establishment Republicans, appeared at the AP this afternoon from headline to finish in a story by Ms. Hunt.
snip

No sale. Cain’s triumph tonight demonstrates that the race is wide open, no matter how much you might wish that it were otherwise.”

What do you know. Mainstream media is WRONG!

Wonder if they will still try to get away with calling it a two-person race?

Obama is only half black - so he doesn’t count.

Cain would be the real thing so there would actually not be a true comparison.

I hope people in general will vote based on the issues and not on color this time around. There is true hope!

Cain has an awesome bio!!

I asked:

Now, with which part do you disagree?

And this was your response:

So your plan is to repeal the 16th. Right

I bet we agree on lots of things. I disagree with you that it is a good idea that a sales tax should be added on top of our existing income tax. You think it should be. I think that is a mistake. The burden is on you to explain why that is a benefit to the republic, and how 200 years of federal abuse would not make things worse.

I did notice that you missed this response to one of your wayward posts:

A flat tax with zero exemptions and deductions that applies equally to all forms of income (although I think wages should be shielded more than true income is now) beats what we have now.

I think it should be “locked” andyk. I think Caesar can operate at a given amount with nothing “floating”. If they can afford Pelosi’s liquor bill and 16 dollar muffins, do it with a set percentage. That’s all.
