Did she come down the stairs? Sarah gave her daughter the chance to do the right thing without embarassing her. I would expect her to do the same with recalcitrant politicians and world leaders. You notice her daughter did not wait to see what the consequences would be if she did not comply.

You’ve been saving that item for quite a while! Yes, he crossed the gate at the bottom of the stairs. Yes, Sarah called Willow. Yes, her boyfriend come back downstairs. All while being filmed for a TV show. Parentally, it was an authoritative and smart executive handling of the situation.
What you saw as a negative, I viewed as a plus for Sarah Palin’s skill level.
Have you ever had a seventeen-year old attractive daughter with a mind of her own? If so, please think back on those situations you handled poorly and would like to take a redo but cannot now.
Sarah has nothing to regret about that particular incident.
