Fair and slightly inebriated: Inside Fox News’ 15th anniversary party
Yahoo News/The Cutline ^ | 9-22-11 | Dylan Stableford

Rupert Murdoch wasn't in attendance at Fox News' 15th anniversary party at Chelsea Piers in New York on Wednesday night for Roger Ailes' speech.

*snip*

"I begged him not to because I've seen you drink," Ailes joked. "And, frankly, it's a nightmare."

No matter. Ailes, the founder and chief executive of Fox News was this party's real star. Not Bill O'Reilly, who was also in attendance, but didn't speak.

*snip*

Murdoch aside, the biggest star not in attendance was Fox News contributor Sarah Palin, who continues to tease the electorate, insisting she has not made up her mind on a 2012 presidential run. And if she does run? "She's out," Ailes told The Cutline after his speech. "Done, immediately."

He added: "We'd cover [her] like we would any other candidate--fair and balanced."

*snip*

He called Fox News' current collection of talking heads "the strongest lineup in cable history" while dissing the revolving doors at his cable competitors. "They have collectively changed it 63 times," Ailes said of the lineup at CNN and MSNBC. "It's sad."

FNC has gone downhill rapidly. It's become the voice of the Republican establishment. Every night is like a rerun: same people (Rove, Krathammer, Morris, etc.) saying the same things. Same tired “formula radio” gimmicks (Great American Panel, smart blond, dumb blond, etc.).

Greta's show is the only one worth watching.

I’m sorry that E.D. is gone. I always liked her.

FNC has a serious issue with truth. They only want on air arguments. Truth is never fair to the lie. FNC fails to expose the lies. It failed with DADT, FNC failed with marriage, it is failing with illegal aliens, it is failing with taxation, it is failing with our enemies, it is failing with the attacks on our world status.

FNC is still the only cable news worth watching.

I’ve been watching Fox ‘n’ Friends since I retired in 1997. I’ve had it with them. They have become their competition. I really don’t care about the celebrities they go ga-ga over or their bands outside. I want three straight hours of liberal bashing.

The thing about Fox News is if you want to get across something important to them you can write blocks of emails to many of them (each email being individually sent each time with a catchy subject line and kept short and to the point). Someone must read them because sometimes you can see/hear that they have made a difference. If you use sort of signature ways of writing your emails sometimes you will hear your verbiage repeated with their comments or reporting and you think “Wow, maybe they said that because they read my email”. There are ways that sometimes you can tell that they have heard you!

I am sure when bunches of us freepers send lots of email to them we can create the fact that the message is news and then they respond because of it being news due to the great numbers emailing them about it.

I think it is time for cable news that openly says that it is Conservative. If it is constantly pointed out that the channel is Conservative they cannot accuse us of not being "fair and balanced" because that is not our purpose. The liberals have channels such as Link TV. Why don't we???

Thanks for the information. Somehow, I missed all that. FWIW, I never categorized ED as a liberal. She seemed very patriotic in her comments on the air. I think her father was in the military and she was raised in several military posts. After she left F & F, she did at least one historical segment for Fox. She was supposed to do more, but I never saw her again.

I liked her on Fox and friends and I’ve never really taken to Gretchen , well until recently when she became more feisty in in her interviews and she showed she is more traditional.
