I did note carefully that this is a classic case of psychobabble.
Since the DIF is a subjective construct, and since the SAT is intended to determine academic merit, I can only compare this attempt at fraud to the massaging of (destroyed) climate data in order to get the global warming results desired.
Only an in depth widespread examination of the DIF methology can determine its flaws. I doubt very much that these so-called researchers will allow that.
And Asians better than whites. Were the author's dicta enforced, Asian scores would be discounted by comparison to everyone else's on the basis of the color of their skin. Who's the racist now?
It won't do. The fundamental premise of the progressives in this matter is that it is racist not to consider an applicant inferior by virtue of race. It is arrogant, patronizing, and patently ridiculous, and they don't like being called on it.
The conclusion is that because they found a difference in the black scores and white scores, they must give preferential treatment to black students.
"race, gender, ethnicity, national origin, geographic origin, and household income, along with other relevant factors, in undergraduate and graduate admissions, so long as no preference is given."
What liberal babble. This is the same reason that is currently giving us: "Iran, it's alright for you the have nukes, just so long as you don't use them, K?
What’s the difference between Jim Crow and Affirmative Action?
so, whites score better in verbal SAT because it’s not in ebonics ? and that’s biased ?
This study indicates that teachers at the HS level tend to overstate the English performance of black students while treating them the same as whites when it comes to math. Makes sense because English is subjective when grading while math is objective.
“Considering Race to Reduce Racial Bias”
Add that to “War is Peace” and “Ignorance is Strength.”
It’s unfair that more whites and asians “of equal merit” are not allowed to play in the NBA!
That's easy. Just add 200 points to blacks scores. Nobody will be the wiser. Shhh!
When this Country was great, if you did badly on a test, you made the decision to study harder and kick that test in the teeth the next time you took it.
Now you complain about the test and sue the test and wait for the test score to be changed in your favor.
I have a logical and easy explanation for this disparity. Black students are given higher grades than they have earned in schools, because of the tendency of whites to grade easy on them, because of pity. I don't understand this, but I have seen it many times. My own wife treats black people like they are precious and special every time she meets or greets them. She told me once, that she wants to make sure they do not regard HER as an enemy, because they have had such a rough go of it...She, is a liberal, and cannot believe she is biased, but she is, against anyone that looks like what she perceives to be in the "power structure" It is the same with liberal high school teachers and grade school teachers.
Yes. It’s what FEELS good. Because those darn tests are sooooo stressful and judgemental.
Are you suggesting that this is a real SAT question?
If yes, from what year?
If not, why are you muddying the waters with irrelevancy?
I would question the educational "credentials" of anyone who would make up such a question.
>>Chad and Buffy are having a 5 course Mediterranian themed brunch catered by Elaines at their Park Ave brownstone. what wines go with each course? Please list both domestic, import and vintage.<<
MD 20/20 of course — the vintage is Prestone, Winterizer formula. Clear plastic cups, no Styrofoam (it makes it schpritz too much).
Trick question. Everyone knows Elaine’s doesn’t cater brunch for small groups.
“I guess reading books is racist now (and it was then).”
That’s actually the whole point of the verbal SAT - to see how well read you are.
>>- to see how well read you are.<<
*ahem* I believe you meant to say “how good you be readin’”
You mean like women in the Marines get easier qualls?
