In Texas 81 percent of the jobs created since 2007 have gone to immigrants who arrived here since 2007. Ninety-three percent of these immigrants arent citizens. An estimated 50 percent are illegal immigrants.
In the second quarter of this year, the unemployment rate for natives in Texas, 8.1 percent, ranked 22nd in the country, and the share of natives holding a job, 66.6 percent, ranked 29th.

If this is true, it’s going to take a lot of the shine off Perry’s jobs creation record.

If this is true, its going to take a lot of the shine off Perrys jobs creation record. It takes ALL the shine off!! There is none. Wish he would pack up and move to Mexico...he helps them more than us.

If I were a candidate I’d look real closely at those stats and if true I’d beat Perry to death with them.

Nice run Perry.....the parties over.
To: Staff Of Moses
Not really a surprise. Perry is a Chamber of Commerce Republican, much like Bush.
Cheap labor for the crony capitalists, and never mind whether young Americans can get jobs or not.

Those "Jobs Americans won't do"
I bet Americans would take each and everyone of those jobs now.
Of course I think Americans would have taken those jobs during the Good times too
How many of those would help drive down the Unemployment numbers, but that would piss off the Illegal Votes.

While I am not in the Perry camp and thought his last “performance” was dreadful, I, for one, would like to see the “study”. I got a very good job with the City of Houston in 2008 at a time when there no decent jobs in my field to be had anywhere. And they were hiring for many positions. Remember the old saying: there are lies, damn lies and statistics....If the study is true, then two-thirds of the employers in Texas should be arrested.

The only able-bodied Americans who won’t take those jobs are the ones who have gamed their way onto the public dole. Root out the healthy recipients of the gov’s cornucopia of freebies, and surprise, surprise—Americans would be clamoring for all kinds of jobs.

Not to highjack the thread, but what on earth is a Mexican bagpiper? Is this a euphemism? I thought bagpipes were Scottish.
To: Jane Long
"Our best estimate is that, of Texas immigrants holding a job in 2011 who indicated that they arrived in the country between 2007 and 2011, half are illegal immigrants. It should be noted that no estimate of illegal immigration is exact. It is possible that somewhat fewer or somewhat more of the newly arrived are illegal immigrants. If our estimate is too high, then more are legal immigrants; if our estimate is too low, then more are illegal immigrants. Assuming our estimates are correct, of recently arrived working-age immigrants in the state, 113,000 are in the country illegally.6 The other half of the recently arrived immigrants (112,000) are legally in the country. Compared to the overall increase jobs in Texas from 2007 to 2011, 40 percent went to new illegal immigrants and 40 percent went to new legal immigrants. This means that in Texas one of the few states that experienced job growth after 2007 native-born workers benefited little from this growth." Lot of estimating in this analysis.
